That Torco stuff, actually does work!

Funny thing though, all through the Mojave Desert and in the thick of Las Vegas traffic, where it was 105 degrees, there was no pre-ignition whatsoever.
I'm assuming that this particular station, (it was a Chevron), is running reg gas in their premium tanks.....anyway, I put up with the pinging/rattling racket for about a mile or two before pulling off to the side where I poured about 2/3rds of a quart can of Torco in the tank.
Seriously, no lie, within 30 seconds after having started back up, the pinging stopped. If I had any doubts before as to the effectiveness of this product, I don't have any now. That definitely made a believer out of me.
I just thought y'all would like to know that.

It might be cheaper/quicker to call around to LOPER'S or some of the numerous Phoenix area streetrod shops and find a better source.

I normally don't have a problem with 91 oct gas. But it would seem that not many but at least SOME of the stations out west are cheating a bit on what exactly is in their "premium" tanks, as that's where I always have my pinging issues.
It gets pretty stinking hot out here in the Midwest too, so I'm not sure I can attribute it all to the heat. As I mentioned previously, there was no pinging while going up those mountain passes between Baker and Vegas, all the while the ambient temps being over 100 degrees.
That Torco stuff is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination....anywhere between 16 to 18 bucks a quart, by the time shipping chgs are factored in! If you drive your vette as much as I drive mine, that's just plain insane, having to put some in with every fill-up.
At least it's reassuring that there is an additive on the market that actually works. I will make it a point of carrying some with me at all times in the future....especially if going out West again.

Have a good weekend! It's in the upper 90's again in SoCal!

Yessir, ya just gotta love the weather out there in the San Diego area. No complaints about the heat....I figure a little sweat and b.o. never hurt anybody.....and it's far better than 20 below.....shivvering in the ice and cold is not my idea of a good time. But like I told you guys, at least out here in Iowa, the ground holds still.
I figure it was more than just 'bad gas'....my feeling is that since this place, due to its location (in Mesquite Nv), probably figures they can get away with having 87 oct fuel in the 91 oct tank, since it's unlikely the "tourist" that gassed up there will come all the way back, just to complain about it.
Still, the way the Torco knocked the hell out of the pinging/rattling (once it finally got to the intake manifold), was nothing short of astounding in my book.
I even tried to make it ping again by ripping up the Virgin River Gorge at 85-90 mph, dodging all those wannabee Mario Andretti types in their SUV's that refused to get out of the hammer lane when I came up on them.
Dem people are nothing short of ignorant!

Your Torco is on the way Buddy!! We ship any where in the USA...
I've been running it in everytank for the last 4+ years!!
It's not really that expensive, and much more convenient than mixing in 100 octane.
I sell it buy the case, but the 5 gallon jug is the best deal, comes out to just under $9.00 per quart delivered!!
