That Torco stuff, actually does work!
CF member JBSBlown (Joel) is our local Torco vendor.
I'll be picking some up next time I see him... or you can PM him.

Still, the way the Torco knocked the hell out of the pinging/rattling (once it finally got to the intake manifold), was nothing short of astounding in my book.
I even tried to make it ping again by ripping up the Virgin River Gorge at 85-90 mph, dodging all those wannabee Mario Andretti types in their SUV's that refused to get out of the hammer lane when I came up on them.
Dem people are nothing short of ignorant!
Let it be known that I did not put him up to this post, but rest assured, if he reminds me about it, I'll give him a VERY nice price on his next case of Torco...
I've been running it in everytank for the last 4+ years!!
It's not really that expensive, and much more convenient than mixing in 100 octane.
I sell it buy the case, but the 5 gallon jug is the best deal, comes out to just under $9.00 per quart delivered!!

There's a high performance engine builder in north Phoenix, I can't recall his name offhand...wonder if he might know...

I'm the skeptic in the crowd....the "doubting Thomas", if you please. I don't take what sounds like outrageous claims very seriously...but this stuff made a believer outta me.
And no, you didn't "put me up to saying all this".

Thanks again,

Just came across this...didn't mean to ignore your comment. You present an interesting subject for consideration; something at least I hadn't given any thought to.
It's a very good possibility that "heat soak" was a contributing factor. Next time, I'll drive it a bit further to give the motor the opportunity to come back down in temps before "pushing the panic button" like I did and dumping in the additive.
Immediately prior to having stopped to gas up, I remember having checked the DIC readings. The coolant temp was 203 and the tranny temp was 201 and the outside air temp was 107. I didn't think to check how much the coolant temp had risen while sitting at the gas pump. I didn't even have the bonnet raised that particular time, so that heat could escape.
Thanks for the heads up thinking there. I'll be paying closer attention next time something like that happens. In the meantime however, I'm taking a can or two of Torco along with me....just in case.
