The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
My situation was beyond any other vendor in any market I have dealt with.
Here is my story...
I ordered my hood and had it delivered to St Louis to a body shop I was going to use.
The shop was skeptical at the quality but once they got the hood they said in all the years of dealing with aftermarket or carbon fiber parts they had never seen anything like this. They said it was perfect and ready to just lightly clean and then spray.
So I get the hood done and it looks great. Only problem is the hood hinges are old (98 vette) so they have trouble aligning the hood.
I took photos and sent them to mike the owner of the mcm hood. on a saturday he and I spoke for a good hour on how to adjust the hood. I tried for about 4 hrs and wasn't able to get it close to what I wanted.
So what did Mike do? He was on a road trip on his harley. He actually showed up with wrenches and he and I adjusted my hood for about 1 hr and it was perfect!
I wanted to buy him dinner but he refused. His belief was that there would be no unhappy customers that have his hood. If it required he personally made it right, he would.
After speaking with him this hood center area was derived from a olds aurora concept car that never made it. The hood was given the top rating for GM and mike just felt with all the time and effort as well as the OEM ratings to be used for GM vehicles that why not expand it to the corvette c5. After all he had one. He told me he makes 1/wk and back in 04 there were maybe 200 of them on c5's in the USA. Probably now it's 500-600 but still this hood really makes other c5 owners wonder where did you get it and that it really makes the vette look a lot nicer. The reverse scoop was really what I liked.
If anyone wants to elude to this hood being a ricer design... what ricer has a reverse designed scoop? If anything that ricer in the photo is just a car for the new kids who don't know what muscle cars were. Even my 12 and 9 yr old sons laugh when they see these so called performance cars.
If anyone hesitates to buy I would recommend buying direct since if you have any problems talking with mike and even you can have the shop talk directly with mike to correct any problems. Bottom line it looks great and I'm not touching the hinges but if I had to do it again I would have replaced my hinges when I did the hood. my bad.
