Send a PM to Not-Mee - he might be able to help you.
Give him a few, he just left to put gas in the car

Sound like a headlight bumper fell off see file I attached below.
You can order replacements from the dealer.
They call them insulators in the tsb

Your headlamp motor gear is stripped
Run down to the section on headlight gears on this sticky and it explains how to fit the brass headlight gear
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=984927
The alternative is to take it into the dealer and have the motor replaced. Big $$$$

Sounds like the nylon gear is stripped....Replace it with a brass gear.
You will need a little patience, but its an easy fix, plus you will save $$ by doing it yourself.....

That TSB applies only to the driver's side, and it sounds like just the motor keeps running, not the door popping back up, so I agree this is a gear issue.

If it's a stripped gear it'll be associated with a grinding noise.

If one of the bumpers pop off either side driver or passenger the motor will continue to run.
The tsb i posted was just for reference and part numbers.
