Default Wheel hop avoidance?

Ok so when I want to punch it (for various reasons) the car kicks into a lower gear and the wheels hop (which I understand sometimes tears up the drive train). Any suggestions how to avoid this? I have an A4 tranny with EMT's.

"wheel hop avoidance"?....Yeah, avoid pushing the gas pedal to the floor so quickly! J/K
I noticed after I switch to Michelin pilot sport A/S's I hardly, if ever get, wheel hop!

Might want to keep in mind that it is the driver's job to maintain traction. The technique for avoiding wheel hop is to squeeze the throttle and not overpower available traction. That's easier to do on a 6-speed but the principle is the same.
