Tranny Cooler

I installed a Hayden 404 trans cooler today.
I have it as a stand alone cooler.
1. I disconnected the top line (out flow) from the radiator and placed it on the top fitting of the cooler (the cooler is horizontal).
2. Disconnected the bottom line (direction of flow) from the radiator and placed on the bottom fitting of the cooler.
Took it for a test drive....ambient temps were 100-104. Trans temp read on freeway at 75 MPH 165-172.
In city traffic abient temp 100, tranny temp went to 182 and no higher.
So does this sound like a proper install or should I have connected the hoses differently?
Thanks,
DenoT
