Default Pain in the neck!

Bought my 2003 torch red convertible 4 weeks ago to give my 73 convertible some company. She’s a beauty with only 13,500 miles. Here’s my problem, for the last 15 years I have had minor problems with my neck and upper back. I’m using the 2003 for my daily driver and it’s absolutely killing my neck. It has the original run-flat tires on it and they are hard as concrete. Please someone tell me that getting away from the run-flats will greatly improve the ride. My wife is driving it now and getting much to attached to it.

Although non-runflats will give you a smoother and quieter driving experience, I don't believe it will make that much of a difference to cure your back and neck problem; but I'm not a doctor either. When I had my vert and coupe I switched to non-runflats for the comfort and just bought a tire repair kit and compressor to keep in the car.
Good luck prying your wife from the car.

C5's are great sport cars and handle well, but rides firm like a sports car should. Non runflats didn't soften my ride that much. You might need a cadillac DD!

Without getting into a pizzing contest about who has the worst neck,
I can tell you it is not the car...It is you.

I used to drive my C5 so seldomly that I was not used to the car and
drove all tensed up.

You only have the car a few weeks. Learn to relax while driving.
Also, put a cushion on the door's armrest. A small towel works well.
A small position adjustment and you'll be fine.

Great advice and at least worth a try before you send $$$ on new tires.

I found that it took a few months to get used to the sore neck from the angle of the seat reclined all the way back, sore back until I got the lumbar right (OFF), left hip and calf from shifting the clutch, right shoulder and wrist from rowing the M6... Almost 3 years in the car as a daily driver and I can't believe how UNCOMFORTABLE other cars are now!!!

Non runflats will soften the ride a bit. Mid-America sells a head rest that fits on sport seats that may give you some extra support. May be worth a try.

make sure you are'nt leaning forward a little and dont have your head against the head rest-i caught myself doing that and it really stiffened up my neck and shoulders.

Location location location.

.
Make sure your car isn’t lowered.
I know many 60 + of age people in the vette club drive these cars daily.
They position themselves correctly with lumbar, pillows or a neck rest and they love it.
Also, make sure your wife doesn’t have one of those voodoo dolls. Maybe she wants the car all to herself...kidding

Non-runflats will make a significant difference in ride quality - maybe not enough to cure your neck problem, but significant, nontheless. I felt like I went from driving a truck to driving a Lexus on steroids after I had my GSD3s installed - MUCH better!
