I've got a stock '03, no mods yet. Love the Ti exhaust, but sometimes I'd like to be louder. I'm coming out of a '00 Camaro SS w/LT's and loudmouth exhaust. I'm thinking about getting dual electric cutouts installed, but I'm not quite sure what sound to expect from a C5 Z06. I know my F-body was deep and intimidating. Was a great sound, but it got old after a while and that is why I like the flexibility that cutouts provide. I'm running cats and plan to, but would like to hear any opinions on how it might sound. I'd like to hear positives and negatives. I've only had my vette 3mos. Also will cutouts cause my vette to throw codes? thanks all.
I put two manual cutouts in the H Pipe right before the Ti exhaust. Other than that my car only has the Zip-Tie mod currently.
I have a partition, but it will still get loud in the cabin. I personally like the sound...but its not really super deep compared to Long Tubes. I can handle a lot too though...came from all very loud cars previously = Long Tubes with just mufflers (usually a bullet of some kind) on every car in my sig.
FWIW I plan to do LG Long Tubes or something similar with dual cutouts with the stock Ti exhaust. I personally don't see the point in wasting $ on a Catback when the stock Ti flows so good unless you just can't stand the cutouts and how loud it gets in the cabin. Most people won't be able to deal with that I guess.
I believe Tony Mamo still runs the LG's, but with Cats, dual cutouts and the Ti catback.
Good Luck

I have cutouts on my 02 Z06 (including Dynatech headers,x-pipe and high flow cats with stock titanium mufflers) and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! The cutouts are my favorite mod by far. I have some good pics of my custom cutout setup if you are interested in seeing it. The flexibility they give you is great. When fully open, the cutouts give the car a very, very mean sound when you go wot. When you are not going wot, the sound is louder than stock, but not so loud that it gets annoying. There is a resonance at about 2000-2200 rpm, but I don't stay in that range long. My cutouts never threw any codes either. My advice.......get them....you won't be sorry.

I'm also running Dynatechs + the OEM Ti System and have been wanting to pickup some QTP cutouts - I had a set of McCord but sold them to a buddy of mine before I installed them.
I'd love to see your install!
Thanks!

I will try to attach the pics....let's see.....nope, I can't figure it out. If someone can host the pics of my setup, I will be more than happy to email you the pics.
I ran the wires above the torque tube, on top of the torque tube shield. To deal with the heat, I placed the wires inside a wire shield like the ones you would use to run a wire inside the engine compartment. I then ran the wires through the rubber shifter boot and placed the switch next to the brake handle. I can take a picture of my button placement if, again, someone can post the pics.
Anyway, as I wrote above I would recommend this mod to EVERYONE!
That's awesome... however I'd be worried about excessive heat on the trans or rear leaf spring at HPDE events. The direct heat can cause the spring to fail.
You don't think there's enough buffer? It looks like it's about 8-10" at least from the spring, plus if you're running I would think the heat would get dissipated pretty (especially at 140 )
Good considerations though - I'm really jonzin' to blow past someone on Sebring back straight with an open exhaust - make 'em wet their pants

Not to rain on the parade here but...I have never seen an electric cut-out last more than a year before failure. They just can not take the heat. Maybe the ones mentioned above are a better product than what I've seen though.
