I recently bought 2002 Z06, and was wondering if Torch Red was a clearcoat or not. It is not designated as such on the original window sticker. My neighbor claims that it is, but on the other hand, I've looked around on the web, and it seems that in references to colors, only millenium yellow and electron blue are clearly referenced as clearcoats.
I'm sure that this will be an easy question to answer.
All the Corvette colors are a basecoat/clearcoat finish. Millenium Yellow and Magnetic Red (now Monterey Red) use a clear coat that has a tint in them.
I don't believe that any US car manufacturer uses a single stage paint anymore.
