Arrgghh!
This is 2 days in a row now that my car has got in the red. It is about 113 degrees here for a few days now, but I let it cool down & refilled it, then it wanted to boil over again today.
Anybody else have similar problems in high heat, also, my car is black; I'm sure that doesn't help....

Are you sure your fans are coming on when they should? We had 110f here in the bay area last Saturday and the cars operating range was about normal.
BTW it started cooling down big time today - I know we're near the coast, but I think the trend is in the right direction.

I'll check the fans, caus it's never got hot like this before.
No matter how hot it gets outside.....it's been over 100 here for about a month.

I regularly run in 110+. Once the fans kick in the temperatures come down. May be a problem there?

Good deal, I noticed the weather is actually supposed to be just under 100 here for the next few days. It'll be a decent break.

We're not used to this heat out this way. We crawl inside and hug the air conditioner. But it was about 80 today

I would first look under the front of the Vette - up at the radiator.
Many, many, many times there is debris in that area, and it will affect your temp.

Just started it up in my garage, got it as hot as it would get.....temp read 246, which is just how it used to run, not in the red.....
Also, fans were kicking on normally, I also turned the air cond. off for a while to see if that made a diff. & it didn't.
Weird?

What temp did the fans kick on?
Anyone know the correct temperature? I believe this is a parameter that can be re-programmed.
There's also a chance your thermostat isn't opening all the way. Sure sounds like something's amiss.
Good luck

Check waaaaaaay up under the front at the top of the radiator. You have to find a way to get your head under the front end because you can't see all the radiator unless you do it. I had to jack the front end up to crawl under it because it's lowered, (and my gourd is too big to fit under the front bumper). Anyway, mine was acting the same way and I found a Wal-mart bag (and a few leaves) stuck where I couldn't see it. It only takes a very small restriction to overheat a C5. Got the crap off the radiator...no more overheating.

Might want to check and see if you have some trapped air in the cooling system!

That would be the first place I would check.

Is it similar to the LT1 where you unscrew a brass fitting untill air comes out, then tighten after coolant spews?
