Default Z06 or not?

I just bought my first Vette. I have long wanted one, and finally have it. It is a 1999 Hard Top that has been completly badged as a ZO6. Even my corvette know it all friend could not tell it wasn't until I opened the hood. I bought the car because it is near perfect, and was a good price.

What is the feeling of the Corvette Community on cars that are like this. I am not trying to fool any one. Should I take the badges off?

Yea, I would say off with the badges or put an LS-6 in it. Or better yet, get a better heads and cam package for it and you will have the power. The suspension for the FRC's is pretty much the same, I beleive the front spring spring and the sway bars are the difference. Congratulations on your new car!

Most will say yes... remove them. I would. IMO, not as bad on an FRC as a coupe or vert, but still wouldn't want mine like that.

All that said, congrats on the Vette. You'll find good advise here...

Congratulations on the new car. I'd vote for removing them, but it's your car to do with as you please.
There is a vendor here that makes beautiful emblems (looks like Z06 style) that could probably come up with a creative alternative fitting your car...
maybe faux Z06.

Redline!- I think you should go with whatever you're happy with! You like badges and brake ducts, etc? No problem. Like someone said already, it's your car. Enjoy it the way you want to.
BTW, it's the rear spring and anti-roll bars (and shocks, too) that are different. I highly recommend the Z bars and shocks.
HTH,
Robert

Like others have said, I would remove the badges, but leave the brake duct alone at least it is functional.

Default it yours

You do what you want... It's your car and if that's what spins your wheels do it. If others don't like it, tough..

It is so cool to get feedback this quick from true, hard-core Vette owners! I am going to loose the badges, and look into the suspension. The previous owner said he had all the Z suspension parts installed on the car. I didn't check it out though because I was already sold.
My thanks to you all for your input!

I would take them off if it were me. But then again it's not as bad as a wing or chrome tail light rings IMO

I have a Z but I'm sure they're many modded FRC's that could blow my doors off. No need to act like the car is something it is not. Just mod that baby and enjoy your new purchase. Good luck

Good choice.

The FRC's came with the Z51 package as standard equipment. He may or may not have installed Z06 components, which would be newer sway bars, shocks & springs. Even if it's "just" the Z51, it's still a nice-handling package. Enjoy your new ride!

Q. What's a mixed feeling?
A. When you see your mother-in-law backing off a cliff in your new car

Don't have mixed feeling about a FRC.. be proud to own one.
They're bad A$$ and they didn't make many of them.

You don't need no sticking badges.
