The dealer I used on a couple of vettes do not put stickers on their vettes. One other dealer that I knew would, I requested that no decals be put on before they got the car and they complied.
I posed the question because, I saw this on two new vettes in the showroom. I told the dealer, when my car comes in, take it off the transport, and DON'T touch the car till I get there.
When I bought my wifes Buick and my Silverado I just asked them not to put stickers on. I told them it was fine if they put a license plate frame on. ( Can be removed easily ), but I ordered both vehichles. If you buy one off a lot you may be out of luck.
1) They do not value / understand how Corvette owners feel
2) If they are already this dumb / forward / ignorant - the back up support and service will also be unconsiderate.
3) Tell them to remove it before you pay for the car. If they want to give you a licence plate frame with their name on it, take it with your hands and decide whether you will put it on one of your other cars.
4) Dealer stickers do not belong on top of the line cars. Period.
5) I do not have dealer stickers on anything that I own. They still do business with me.
I purchased my 2001 Coupe used with just 3000 miles on it. The prior owner either requested they leave it off or removed it himself. He traded it for a 2001 Vert and I picked up his "Old" car the next day. I noticed that they were putting a sticker on along with the plates and all the other prep items they do, but was too busy signing paperwork to address that issue.
I got to looking at the sticker a couple of days later and noticed that it was not a decal, but more like vinal press-on letters with the dealers logo. With just a little bit of effort, I got a fingernail under one corner and gently lifted. The rest of the sticker was soon pealed off. A quick rub with a soft cloth and my baby was good as new.
I worked for a Ford dealer doing Make Ready's after school.
Whenever possible, I would ask the new buyer if he/she preferred the Dealer decals on or off the car/truck.
I personally do not prefer to have the on my car.
And, after working there, I request that the car be delivered to me without going through Make Ready. I know how bad I was on the cars back then.
