Third owner, but have put over 65Kmiles on my 98 coupe A4 in four years - I got the car to drive it Thought a pic at odometer at 100K would be nice, looking forward to 200K!
Very nice! My 01' will be turning 25k this month(bought it in March with 22k), and I've been putting double the miles on it, that I normally put on any car I've ever owned, just because it's so much fun going on Corvette cruises/meets, and such. Hope to see you reach another 100k out of it at least.
lmao..now thats funny! mine has over 100g and i pulled of valve cover to install header and the top of the head was spotless...i mean like brand new...i was so proud....(wiping tear).....i had seen lots of valve train w/high mileage...and was expecting build up, crusted pooh ,, just broken in...dont use or leak oil...these engines are awesome!! and a big thanks to previous owner for taking such great care of it!!
DeeGee - I had a few snags when I first got it (column lockup, some codes), recently had to take apart the dual air control to fix the dim display, and have gone through two sets of tires, mods - z06 air filter, pvc filter, drilled/slotted/plated rotors, ceramic pads. It has been quite reliable (very UNLIKE my 79 C3!).
artfahie and pawngod - I thought about just keeping it parked to keep miles down so I could sell it for more (a friend has a purchased new 2003 he puts about 1000 miles a year on) - but where is the FUN in that? I figure I'll keep this till it drops like other vehicles I have had, then maybe put a LS7 in it. I love the LS1's (putting one in my 79 C3), use mobile 1 always - suspect my engine is also quite clean (not so sure about the auto tranny - lots of hard accels in those miles).
Thanks from you all, I have had a BLAST driving this car - best I have ever owned to date.
My 98 just turned 21k... At this rate,..I guess I will need about 30 more years to make 100k.....
great milage and envy you but do not get over confident because rubber, seals, and parts not lubed, will over time break down the same day as a car with big mileage.
This has been an excellent thread for me. I have a 98 with 79,000 on the clock. I bought the car in palm beach fla. and when I got it home to MD I noticed a small leak from the tranny so I took it to Tony's corvette shop in Gaithesburg MD. I had him go over the car from front to back and 7,000 later I had all the fluids changed, new transmission seals (all three) new oil pressure guage, new cross beam across the back of the transmission, plugs, wires, thermostat, Corsa pace car exhaust, Kirbin short throw shifter and the list goes on.
The point is that I went from a great deal on this car at 17,000 to where I now have an unexpected 24,000 that I know I will not see again. the good news is the car runs like new and I love to take the car for cruises. Hearing you all talk about the dependability of this motor gives me hope that I could be driving this car for a very long time.
