Just finished the install of the Blackwing. It really wasn't a complicated mod. But I couldn't have done it without this forum. A search of the older threads found complete instructions (with pictures). That really helped me with the "little" details. There is no way I could have figured out how to remove the MAF sensor plug with out the tip regarding the removal of the key, nor the PCV hose without knowledge of the friction clamp.
1 - I did have to trim the rubber gasket that connects the MAF sensor to the filter opening. It was about 1/4 inch too long. I saw that tip in several older threads. Why it's too long is a wonder too me - sure glad I read this forum.
2 - I did not disconnect the battery for the install and did not get any codes when turning the car on for the first time. Instead of running the "Idle Relearn Proceedure", I just drove the vehicle. Just got back from a 55 mile drive. The car ran fantastic. No knocks or hesitation.
I know - I just completed the install - But I really do believe the engine is breathing better, thus performing better. Never had any problem before - It just feels stronger (My old air filter was a little dirty - that's a note to myself to check this one more often).
Any tips on how to maintain this Air Filter would be appreciated.

Congrats on the install.....
How to maintain a Blackwing? Clean it when it gets dirty ( generally about 10-15K miles unless you drive in very dusty conditions) using a Blackwing cleaning kit. They use a special oil that brings the Blackwing back to it's original blue color. Follow the directions included with the kit....that's all there is to it.
Congratulations! I didn't disconnect my battery or do the re-learn procedure, either. I drove it for 30-40 miles, got no codes...no complaints.
The silicone hose is to long because it's not "BLACKWING installation on C5 Corvette LSx motor" specific. It can fit any application requiring that ID(s). I didn't cut mine, but it sure took some patience to get it adjusted on the MAF and aftermarket bridge.
