Default Fuel Sending Unit?

Hey guys
i am having this problem with my fuel guage on the dash. It reads 1/2 empty on a full tank. It is constanty wavering and i get the "Low Fuel" and "Reserve Fuel" reading on the DIC. So even if i have a full tank, it only reads half full...

What is wrong with my car? Is it the fuel sending unit? Any ideas? Anyone? Im desperate here!!! I need to get this fixed asap!!!

Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thanks.
Aj

Go get some "Techtron" fuel additive- dump a bottle in each of the next two tank fulls - if you are lucky it will clear up the problem-- if not you may need a new sending unit- Search the threads here - very common problem- good luck-

Hey Aj, What brand of gas you using? I've been using SA and so far no problems.

I've been using Super America (also the 92 octane) for over 3 years and haven't had any probs. If you've already tried the techron though you my be among those that need to replace the sensors

Been down this road myself, with multiple cleaners changing brands of gas, and to no avail. If you are pre-2000(?), I beleive the only fix is sensor replacement, after 2000, there is a software fix.
This is a common problem and a search will probably bring up a ton of posts.

I've read here that GM has a new "Magic Crap" that you add to your tank to "Fix" this problem. OK, WHATEVER.
