I'm debating about suspension options on the 'Vette. I really want the Z51 suspension, as I love a great handling car. But I don't want my teeth rattled loose. I've been doing that for years between my Cobra and now the Viper.

No, the Viper does not have cruise control.

 

I love your car I have seen it for sale on a few sites! if i had already sold my vette I would be contacting you ASAP!!!!



My car is kind of like your viper but a vette if that makes any sense !

 

Drive all of them and see which you like. I originally drove a straight/stock susp 03 and was less than thrilled with the ride on a bumpy road. The F55 mag suspension is still firm and responsive, but more "civilized". After 2 years and 34,000 miles the suspension switch pretty much stays on "Tour", unless I really want to have some fun on a twisty.

 

well I'll take you up on that and check out a couple of the dodge dealerships in the area.

So far not much luck. 1st 5 hits from local dodge dealershios cam up with $76K or higher.

Interesting article in car&driver this month, comparison of Z06/Porsche 911T/Ferrari F450, all 500hp sports cars. Ranked 3-2-1 even though the z06 had the best numbers in a lot of catagories. They did make the comment that "Finishing third in this test is like getting a date with Jessica Simpson rather than Claudia Schiffer or Monica Bellucci."

The Viper was not included in the test.

that was a typo, the slightly used srt-10's are going for 57k the new ones are going for mid 60's ebay is littered with them. so in essence the same price as a Z06 (if you can get msrp) there are many more 67k vipers than there are 67k Z06's.

 

I was just thinking the same thing about the home(s) in the background, and that Viper does look nice as well.

 

EBAY??? Come on man. You find me a dealer in my South FL area selling a new viper for a $65K Z06 price and I'll buy it. Lets get real. MSRP for viper is $81,895 plus last time I checked there was a $3500 gas guzzler tax on Vipers. Not sure if this is still in effect

re-read my post. Anyone can make a claim like you are doing. You find me a $65K viper in the souht fl area at a Dodge dealership. Give me the phone # of the dealership, and I'll verify it and I'll buy it.

This is my last point on this because we are hijacking the thread but do you think the world is confined to your little box. There are more cities than just your hometown. I'm not finding jack for you, you can look it up yourself on ebay and see several NEW vipers at 67,68,69k with buy it nows on them.

Wow! I check the forum every few days to read my PM's and here it is - my Viper Vs. Vette thread still going! I must say, I reread my original post and reply and I still feel the same way.

I realize that we are on a Vette forum, I have been a member here since 2002 and have owned 5 of them. Vettes are great cars. I simply wanted to change to something different, and in my book more exclusive. I then gave a comparison of the two.

Since that comparison, I am reading about how my wife is probably my daughter, what my house looks like,taking 10 hour trips, how great a 6th gen Z06 is (which it really is!) and even heard comparisons of my hometown???(which BTW- Lowenhart GTP is an idiot. You guys should go back and read this jerk's posts and replies- all dozen of them!) Poor kid...

Anyway, all cars have quirks. Nothing is perfect or there would only be one kind, and hopefully you got a little insight to a car that is different but reviewed from an old Corvette guy. I use these cars as playcars on weekends and nice nights and I bought my Viper with 8600 miles on it for $46K. It put down 514/526 with few mods and is silly fast. Also, it has the Cognac Connelly interior upgrade (Rolls-Royce leather) and that is why I think that the interior is nicer than the C5. The C5 has better features, though.(HUD,Cruise and power seats)

I still say this car is a rockstar, the beauty is very apparent to me and it runs like a 500+ V10 should and was worth the extra money. If it isn't to you that is O.K. - it is just a car! Now, I didn't think I would have any more comments, but the fact that this thread has been kept alive, I thought that I would give my $.02
