No, that's not it. Most real car guys can appreciate another car for what it is. A Viper is real American made muscle car like the Vette which makes both something to be proud of. But your too close minded to see that. Mention a Viper in a good light and it's Vette bashing. You have serious insecurity problems dude. I've owned both and there are plusses and minuses to each, but that doesn't make one better. Depends what you are looking for in a sports car.

Guess it's pointless to say "nice ride", etc. at this point as he's not following this thread anymore (I'm guessing). But I do feel it was a bit of dis as well... No big deal, we should all have thick skin here It just seems bad form to down the Vette on a Vette forum. I'm sure a lot of us have things we're all really proud of but don't feel the need to flaunt it. If I went out tomorrow & bought another dream car of mine, say a Ferrari 355 or 430 (dreaming now), the last thing I'd do is post that fact here. Why screw with a forum that's helps so many so often. Just IMHO of course

I can appreciate any sports car for what they are, I'm just a Vette guy at heart though. And its not insecurity, its frustruation from people like the original poster and especially people like you. I grow tired of hearing people putting down the very car they drive. You (PDCjonny) are missing the point of my aggression. YOU SHOULDN'T COME IN THE CORVETTE FORUM GENERAL SECTION AND OPENLY **** ON A CORVETTE...WHILE ALSO GIVING TALL PRAISE TO A CHRYSLER. How do you think this would have gone if the situation was reversed and happened in the viper forums? Its still pointless trying to make half-wits like you understand though

I could understand your thinking if all he did was slam the Vette and praise the Viper. Did you miss the part where he pointed out the bad things in the Viper? He posted a comparison. Keep in mind that it was his opinion. I share some of the same opinions as well as some different. I happen to think the Vette has a nicer interior and that it is of better quality than the Viper. The Viper has some cheesy plastic parts that will pop off if you bump them the wrong way. The HVAC system in the Vette is far superior. Every car will have some things better and some worse. I dont think he was slamming either, just pointing out what his opinions are on the 2 different cars. He obviously loved Vettes as he has had 5 of them. He must have liked something about them?

I just made another thread about my situation. I'm going just the opposite.

I reached high financially and bought a '99 Viper GTS. As far as looks go, it can't be beat. It's stunning. Very exclusive and sexy as they come.

However, for me, I've found some that it's just not what I wanted. As fast as it is, as well as it handles, etc...it's got more drawbacks than I like. If I sound like a complainer, I'll say this. Prior to the Viper, I had a FFR Cobra replica for 4+ years, which I did lots of autox and 5 open track events with, so I was used to bare bones. But here are the drawbacks I found. The driving position is awkward at best. It follows every rut in the road and can be a handful on roads here in the mid-Atlantic area. Yes, it seems to have high handling limits, but you have to be brave to reach them. It seems a minor complaint, but the clutch is very heavy. For a short drive, no big deal. But on my near one hour commute to work, it's annoying. I've got a bad knee and find that I'm actually in pain by time I'm done.

I would never say the Viper is a bad car and people shouldn't buy it. It's a wonderful, incredible, amazingly fast supercar. On the whole, I love it. But for the $$$ I paid, I'll give up the exclusivity and spend a whole lot less for a car that can peform 90% as well as the Viper in stock form (with an aftermarket that's endless to upgrade as I want).

Not to mention that if he had any security he wouldnt care what someone else thought of his car. Anyone can tell me they hate corvette and it's like cool, your opinion, but some of these people on this site get so uptight if you say the vette is anything less than pure gold.

Thats funny. I spent the entire 1st 1/2 of the summer looking for a Cobra. I made an offer on a FFR with a 429 in it but we couldnt come to a deal so I found the Viper. I'm sure like most toys I will get bored of the Viper in a couple years and then I still want a Cobra. They are amazing cars as well. I could have picked up lots of htem in the US but to bring a kit car into Canada is a serious pain. They basically dont allow them in. The Cobra's that I did test drive were ok but all of them needed some work and right now I dont have time to fix. I found the clutches heavy on the Cobra....a lot heavier than the Viper. They all had big blocks though with heavy duty clutches. I will own one someday. Enjoy the Viper while you have it. I'm thinking the next Vette I have will be a C6 Z06. If only they made them in a convertible.

Speak for yourself pal. A Honda Civic would better suite you. I will not repeat my valid point as it would be POINTLESS. I have an idea, look at the previous posts for a long hard time until the point emerges and penetrates that thick block. What I can't get over is things like you.

I looked at the Viper before I looked at my vet. I love them both. I just thought that my money went further with the Vet. I have customized it to my liking and have still spent less. I would love to race you sometime. That would be the real test. Love the car. The blonde's not bad either. Good luck with it! Drive safe.

You sure don't defend free speech tho. He gave an honest opinion from someone who has owned both.

Nice Viper!! , and I appreciate your comparison. We are all car guys, and the Corvette and the Viper really have alot in common, two seats, tons of power, sports cars etc...

Now if he were to compare it to my wifes Sable station wagon, I could see where someone might take offense, but his comments were very much his honest opinion. I was happy to read your comparison, and really like your Viper!!!, does that make me a bad forum member??? I still love my Z.....
