I have a corsa pace car system with tiger shark tips on my 00 coupe and love it...I also have the corsa x-pipe to go with it. it's stock otherwise.

The tiger shark tips are different in that they have all 4 tips directly in the center of the bumper fascia as opposed to two on each side. The pace car is also a bit louder then the touring edition corsa has. One thing you will notice is that the sound (while nice) will not really be like that old big cam you had...reason being is the C5's firing order...its not the same as other chevy engines- this gives the car a unigue (higher pitch) sound if you will...my car sounds like an exotic car...think ferrari sound...it does pop and girgle when I come down in gears - something you may not have if yours is an automatic...I like it, others don't. The best thing I can tell you to do is talk to some local guys about what they have- you can also listen as well...that way you will be able to form an opinion as to what you like.

There are usually good deals to be found in the parts for sale section...keep your eyes out and good luck!

another ting I like about my corsa is that there is hardly any interior drone other systems have...it bites at wide open throttle, but you can talk over it on the highway!

I think Borla gives you the close exotic sound as well. I have the stingers cat back in mine and I love it

Corsa Pace Car set-up with magnaflow x-pipe with 3.5 pro series tips. I had it done about 3 weeks ago and I still can't stop smiling. Best of all....no drone with my MN6.

Good luck,

Scott

GHL w/Magnaflow X-pipe here. Love the sound. My advice to you is go to a covette club meeting or event and ask to listen to different exhausts. Listen inside and outside the car. I like my setup but you may hate it. You might like Borla and I might think they suck. Different strokes. You are asking for opinions and you know what they say about opinions.

I don't think that you're ever going to get that 80's sound in these cars with just a different cat back system.

Hi James -

On my wifes 99 coupe, I cut the mufflers from the over the axle pipes and then had a small straight pipe welded in, then tacked on some heddman dual-outlet resonator tips I bought from summit racing.

The total job was around $100 including the tips and welding at a muffler shop -

The car is really throaty - sounds like an old GTO in my opinion.

It is not too loud while driving and just boggin around town. but at WOT it does open up some.

Since the car has cats on it, it's not like it is an open exhaust.

You will find that catbacks really do not add much in the way of horseponies.

Here is a link to a sound clip of the car after the "billy bobbed" exhaust.

And pics -

best regards -

I TOTALLY AGREE I have the Corsa Indy system with 3.5" tips. They are just enough around town and really howl when you floor it It definitely has that Ferrari sound...... not at all like my 96, but cool just the same

I was looking for the same things as you. I went with the Borla Stingers and a Bassani X-pipe initially. It really made a difference in the sound. I was very happy with it. BUT... Once I added a custom cam and a Dynamax Supermaxx LT header system, WOW!

I really love driving the car every chance I get now. People have actually followed me to ask what kind of exhaust set-up I have!

The ONLY way you will resolve this is to go to a large Vette gathering and listen to the various setups people have PERSONALLY. Opinions will not make your exhaust sound the way you want it.....research and finding the one that is right for you WILL.

Oh, sound clips are great, too, but nothing will beat personally hearing the various exhaust systems. Good luck!

Carlisle is coming up in a couple of weeks, that's the best place to go and listen to all the different systems. That's what I did back in 2000 and after listening to everything under the sun I chose the Bassani system. Bassani will give you a deep big block sound at idle and a mighty roar at wot, yet has no drone what's so ever... I thought that Corsa sounded like my Johnson outboard, and I couldn't deal with that popping noise on decel. Some of the other systems sounded great at idle or wot but not both, and a lot of them had that drone at cruise speed...I liked the Bassani so well that I put them on all three of my C5's and my Expedition.

You need to tell people to fire up their cars and listen...
