Had a delco in mine for 5 years with no problems. But like you would with any battery if you're going to let it sit for weeks at a time you better hook it up to a battery tender.
I was cleaning under the hood and noticed my Delco looked inflated/swollen I thought it was going to detonate; this was after about 2 years of service. Replaced it with another one and noticed moisture at the + post after a year of service. Felt it was time to end the suffering and sleepless nights and traded it in on an Optima about 6 months ago. So far so good.
My recent post about my 2 problematic Delco’s I was just thinking C5 my other cars weren’t considered. I have had no problem with them. So we are talking just talking C5’s here???
I have 6 1/2 years on my OEM Delco. every once in a while I check the charge, and its at 12.26 ish. In the winter, it doesnt like going 3 weeks without a start
I had to go to the dealership today to pick up a switch for my wife's car. They had OEM 7 yr batteries for the same price of the 5 years battery so I bought a new one today.
I have a Optima yellow top in my C5 for 4 plus years now.....zero problems, notta, zilch.
Now the dozen or so red tops are a different story. Never let them discharge because they loose allot. Other than that they are okay. Still, I would definitely recommend a red top over the possible leaky Delco.
Give me another GM battery anytime. That's all I ever use to replace an old one and I have been very happy. By the way, I've been driving for 38 years now.
