Default Heat :-(

Where is all of the heat coming from through the arm rest??? Would the heat tunnel shield help alot or just some? I had put down dynamat extreme throughout the console area to the arm rest and I now have heat coming through the carpet area next to the seats and man is it hot? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony P

part of the beauty of owning a c5 is that in the hottest summer months, one becomes acutely aware of how much heat is radiated on the driver's R leg & arm. bub

Tony,

If you figure this out, let me know. My tunnel gets very hot, but I have been told there isn't much you can do.

Good luck,

It is coming from your exhaust running under a basically uninsulated plastic barrier with a very thin metal shield between you and very hot exhaust pipes.

I improved mine I'd say at least 40-50% by insulating the entire tunnel with frostking.

I've also heard that abs of steel help even more which is my next step once I figure out what cat back i'm going to go with.

All of us have this problem - noisy and hot.

I've read a bit about this kit from Crazy Cowboy (aka exoticvette.com):
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1335784

http://www.exoticvette.com/insulation.htm

For minimal $, it's worth a shot - Should be a good winter project.

Fixes:

1) Abs of steel

2) Tunnel insulation package

3) Interior insullation (including the top of the console)

Any one of the three will assist in reduction.

All three give the most you can get (other than leaving it parked - no heat there )

I just commented the other day to my wife about a small warm spot on my console the other day. I did the interior insulation over the winter and it helped A LOT. Last summer the heat was noticeably more. Just make sure you do a thorough job covering all the spaces.

This will help keep the temp down and take some flex out of the chassis.

Thanks for all of the info...I'm thinking about going with the Heat shield from West Coast Corvettes.
