Mine says 68 and I KNOW it is over 80. What's wrong?

Maybe it's time for a new temp sensor. They're cheap - like $10-$15.

Seems to me 68 is what they read when they go bad - it is located up in the front end.

It sticks out into the airstream that runs into the radiator.. Look on the passenger side of the middle of the car. It sticks right out pointing towards the drivers side. It's black, covered in plastic and not quite a 1/4 inch in diameter and only an inch or so long with a wire running out the back of it... You'll see it.

Yep - there it is!

So, you guys are saying that I'll need to replace it - right?

Like Rosanne Rosannadanna said, "It's always something!"

Thanks for the help!

Default another possible

That is about the temp it says when the connection to the sensor is open.

There could be a break in the wiring.

I would probably put a 100 ohm resistor across the pins first to see if the temp changes.

Hope the sensor is all that it is. Good luck with the repair.

I found this on Fred Bean's site. It is the ambient temp sensor, right?

Default How does this Work? What is sequence?

I am getting all kinds of weird errors on mine. Anyone acutally know the 'flowchart' of how it works, updates itself, how often, etc?

I already replaced one sensor, and jus the other day put some dielectric grease on the connector (didn't change anything).

One minute I can be looking at a temp near accurate, and next thing it's 20 degrees off on the low side. Then one thing I've noticed is driving one certain route every day, the temp indicator starts moving upward every day at exactly the same spot in the road, which is very odd!

Would help to know how this 'system' works.
