Default Lift installation - Part II

I had a lot of great PM's and emails concerning the lift installation thread I posted a few days ago. Many of you folks were asking how I was planning on getting the lift high enough with the Vette on it to be able to comfortably work on it and also, how in the world I thought I'd ever be able to park my Mustang under it with only a 10-foot ceiling.

Well, here are a few pics illustrating how easy it is with a 10-foot ceiling. The trick is to back the Vette in to clear the garage door. I have plenty of room to walk and work under it and the Mustang fits easily, thank you very much. I have enough clearance, in fact, to raise it yet another notch. The door was not the limiting factor here - the ceiling was.

Again, thanks to everyone for the great comments and compliments.

Plenty of room and could even go several inches higher.

Mrs. Patches showing a surprising amount of courage despite her initial misgivings when I first spoke of erecting a lift in the garage.

No problem, even for me.

A surprising amount of clearance. Of course, the Vette is not quite 48" high so it lends itself to a lower ceiling with the lift.

The space above the Stang.

Absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS clearance under the Vette now.

Officially a "3-car garage" now.

Great job, Ed and your car looks fabulous as always!!

Two questions:
1. Have the neighbors heard how great the cutouts sound yet? (I still play your flyby vid! )
2. Where's all your junk: lawn mower, rakes, all the usual crap that usually clutters up a garage??

That's the beauty of cutouts - no pizzing off the neighbors, who I have to live with. I generally open them up outside of the subd.

I have a utility room in the basement, a small garage actually, with a garage door that opens out to the back yard. It's designed to hold all the lawn equipment so the main garage can be dedicated to the cars. It's a really nice improvement over the last house where I stored everything in the garage since I had no basement at all.
