My wife and I are strongly considering relocating next year from Columbus, Ohio to the State of Nevada somewhere outside of Las Vegas (currently leaning toward the Pahrump area). I have a couple of questions for those of you who live in that area. Are there any really good Corvette shops in the area? I have been spoiled for many years by the stable presence of a great group of guys at Corvette Corner here in Columbus. Secondly, are there any Corvette Clubs outside of Vegas or do the Vegas clubs accept members from some distance away? Thanks for the info. Additionally, if any of you have comments/suggestions about Pahrump or other areas please feel free to comment. Our finances will not get us the type of house and land in Vegas that we appear to be able to buy in Pahrump (single story, 3 car garage, acre of land, etc.). Of course now that I am older medical facilities are also an issue but I was told that they just opened a new regional medical center in Pahrump. Again, thanks for your input. Looking forward to not shoveling any more snow.

No Corvette shops in Vegas. I take my Vette to Calif. there are a couple of very good shops there.
No offense, don't move to metro Phoenix, there's 13,000 people moving into Maricopa County every month as it is. The roads can't take anymore "immigrants". It's a nice place to visit (in the winter), but living in the valley isn't what it's cracked up to be.
I can say this because I've lived in AZ since '57 and seen the quality of life deteriorate in the name of growth...
From: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and

I have to respectfully disagree, sorry. I've lived here for 15 years - and I'm not saying that the area hasn't changed...it has. But Phoenix is a thriving metropolis with now great smooth freeways, state of the art medical facilities and a very active Corvette community. Is it more bustling, busier and more congested than it was in 1957....I would certainly hope so!
The summers are hotter than hell - but they're pretty hot in the Vegas area too. And, Vegas is growing at a dramatic rate too.
Quality of life as a measure is subjective. Is Phoenix the rural backwater, quiet peaceful burg that it was fifty years ago - nope! But it has a lot of other things going for it that makes the quality of life pretty darn good. So many families with small children are moving here - they must see something in the quality of life.
My daughter was six when we moved here - and I think the quality of life is much better here than it was in the Chicago suburbs. I love it here and can't imagine living anywhere else. I even love the summers!
