Default Buyer Beware

This is for any new or potential Z06/ Corvette buyers with a certain dealership located in GA with the initials of "MP".
Dont Believe them and Buyers Beware!

Several of us have had a long drawn out terrible experinces with this dealer and we have submitted complaints to GM/Corvette as well as the Better Business Buruea of Georgia. These salespeople will out right lie to you so dont believe anything they tell you.

The bad news is nothing will change their ethics or their greedy policies and the good news is that there are other dealerships that will provide and treat you better. Just have to shop it very carefully in this day and time.

Be careful and good luck!

And others don't? Salepeople by their very nature do one thing.....make sales by any means they can. I never believe any of them! Since the Internet is a consumers best friend, I'm surprised at how many people don't use it to be informed before walking into a dealership.

There is no federal statute making the practice illegal as long as one party is aware the conversation is being recorded.
Both conversing parties do not need to be aware of a tape recording being made, as long as one party is aware. Think along the lines of an answering machine or LEO using a audio/video recording of a traffic stop.
A third party listening and/or recording a telephonic conversation between other parties (unknown to them) would be illegal w/o a court order (LEO wiretap).
The President Bush/NSA practice of monitoring key phases on incoming/outgoing conversations between suspected terrorists has just been suspended by a federal judge. (I include that since someone would probably have commented).
Businesses routinely have recorded messages that state the conversation may be monitored, but it's not a legal requirement unless the customer/business is from the state that makes the practice illegal. It also helps promote consumer confidence in the business.
There is no legal "expectation of privacy" between two parties talking in public (may be protected by law IE, spouse, doctor, lawyer privilege) but the "public" conversation might be made admissible by a court.

Default Get a Rope!

Out here in the west, in the old days, we would normally use a rope and let God sort it out! tempting as it is, just a shame that there is laws that prohibit such actions these days!

It is my intent hopefully to raise a red flag of a certain dealership to any potential buyers as I wouldnt want them (customers) to experience the same thing that a bunch of us did with signed contracts and earnest monies down that didnt mean anything to the dealer when it was all said and done.

In my complaint to Corvette I was told that dealerships can do pretty much what they want to as far as policies are concerned.
Fortunately I was able to get the New Z06 through another dealer and I have achieved my dream.
Bottom line is just Beware and careful with who your dealing with. Even contracts dont mean anything anymore!

Most states have consumer protection laws that allow a party that has been defrauded by an auto dealership to sue and recover treble damages (3X the amount of the loss, or in some cases, the purchase price of the car), plus attorneys fees. If you know several people who are victims of a fraudulent deal on a car, new or used, you might want to consider talking to a lawyer and suing as a group. The fact that several folks have similar stories about the dealership helps to make all the cases stronger.

Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Default Check with BBB

I'd suggest to anyone who is in the market for the Z06 or any Corvette to research the Better Business Bureau of GA on all Chevrolet dealerships in that state. I dont want to violate any rules in this forum. If anyone wants to PM me then I can reveal more info.
I did talk to my lawyer, wieghting all the options I elected not to take any action. If I were living in the south and closer I may have done so. It was a difficult decision to make but sometimes it just aint worth the BS to get justice. But thats all behind me and I caution anyone to just be careful and research who your dealing with. Just dont feel good to be lied to or taken to the cleaners!
