Default LED's for HVAC

I want to add blue and red LED's to my HVAC controller. Please tell me how to wire approximately 15 LED's together to be powered by one lead. I want to do this standalone and leave current light bulbs intact and eventually shut the regular bulbs off. Any suggestions? I have a damaged HVAC controller to mess with. Thanks.

I attempted this change over it is not easy, I could only get half my lights to work. If anyone out there is willing I will pay them to convert mine.

No way there is enough room on the circuit card for two sets of lights. Just to get the LED resistors to fit requires a fair bit of time with a dremel too.

I do not see why I cannot put the LED's directly in the buttons and powered off another lead. looks like plent of room in each button.

I agree with that but they are supposedly easy to change out...look here

What color would you like? And how long can you be without your HVAC. I've done a couple of the dual climate HVACs I got it down pretty good. Shoot me a PM.

Your idea is interesting. However I don't think there is enough room between the button membrane (rubber) and the buttons for another set of lights (LEDs with resistors). If you get the LED's too close to the buttons then the emitted spot of the LED will only illuminate part of the button.

Also I haven't looked too closely at the existing power circuit for the bulbs, but if if there are multiple entry points for the +12V power then it will be nearly impossible to disable all the existing bulbs with say one switch. You will have to cut multiple leads off the PCB, short them together, and run them in series with a switch to turn off the bulbs. I would just look at SPDKILZ tutorials http://www.spdkilz.com/techtipledhvac.html
on his site and I think you will be very pleased with the LED look all the time.

Not gonna work on the HVAC or radio. These bulbs will fit in the door switches and right side of the IC (not sure about the left as they are different). For the HVAC, the 12V lights are soldered into a circuit card. You need to desolder the 12V lights and then solder in an LED/resistor combo. Since there is no room for the resistor, some cutting is needed.

GREEN HVAC.....sorry for the blur. But notice the differance between the stock bulbs in the radio and the LEDs in the HVAC

It may be possible, but I would just go with LED's. They look awsome. Here is my car.

I don't have any pics of the install. All I did is cut 1/32 PVC to fit inside the buttons. I fallowed the instructions on your web site to do the rest of the leds ( Thank you) but the HVAC I did this way because my soldering skills suck and I thought it would be very difficult to get 100% even illumination by soldering the leds to the PCB. The buttons work fine, I suppose if you were going to press anyone of the buttons several thousand time the LED lead might break.

Last weekends project

Next weekend
