While on vacation a few weeks ago, we were driving our mini-rv on I-90 through South Dakota and were buzzed by hundreds of Harleys, half being driven, and half being trailered. All on their way to the Sturgis Rally.
I saw one black Corvette coupe trailering a pair of Harleys.
My wife and I discussed a long road trip in our Corvette and thought a light weight made-for-a-motorcycle-to-pull style trailer for extra storage might be worth considering. It would allow enough trunk space for us to drop the convertible top while sight seeing in the mountains.
Is there any source for a light class hitch for the C5 Corvette?

I saw one here in Northern VA towing a trailer that had 4 race wheels on it. Didn't know the guy and didn't get to talk to him. Maybe he is a member and will see this.
I have a draw tite in my garage I can sell you . took it out of a 99 I bought . I would recommend that a pro installs it though .
I guess previous owner trailered a Jet Ski .
PM if interested.

The guy I bought my '98 from used to make a two wheel trailer for the C5 that was a reduced size duplicate of the back end of a C5, complete with C5 wheels, tail lights, etc., and also offered a bolt in hitch that attached to the frame. They were advertised in Corvette Fever and a bunch of places. I'll try to find a photo and call him to see if he still sells them. I think the cost for the trailer was just over $3300, painted in the color specified and including Vette wheels.

That sounds real cool to have a trailer styled to the C5 Vette, then painted to match. But the money is tough for me to put out.
Anyone have a used one they want to sell cheap? To keep the cost down, I could leave you with the wheels as I have an extra pair. Since my Vette is the uncommon Bowling Green, I'd figure on getting it painted locally.

Dude must be out of town. I called about 8:15 CDT today and left voice mail and he is really good about calling back. I saw a BUNCH of these in a lot of different colors. He sold them at Carllsle, Knoxville, and other places. I think he had one without the wheels in primer than may have been under $3000 and may have been closer to $2500. He was also making C4 (used my '91 coupe to get dimensions for the hitch) and had a C3 prototype. They REALLY looked good, super paint finish with clear coat, looked like factory paint.
That was a couple of years ago and he may have moved on to other projects by now. The last one I saw was an electric mini-bus to use in small Swiss villages that don't permit fueled vehicles within the city. It was sort of like a golf cart on steroids with an attitude that would hold 10-12 people plus their ski gear. This guy is fascinating to talk to. Just when you think he is shoveling BS so fast it'll cover your shoes, he trots out pictures of him driving a formula 1 car or some such other racing vehicle, or pictures of some exotic car he owned in the past with him standing next to it, or his autographed whatever with Zora Arkus Duntov's signature on it. Turns out it's all straight talk.
