I know our cars are so well equiped with tire sensors, but I wanted to know that does anyone use the external tire gauge to measure the air pressure. If yes, what kind, from where, and how much.
I've seen a few on the Ebay, some digital, some with needle, but not sure which would be more beneficial. And I don't wanna pay anything over $10-$15, its a tire gauge after all... shouldn't have a Vette tax on it..
I have the sensors, but I also check my tires cold in the garage with a digital gauage and I have my old fashioned one that I double check the digital against also.
Yes flame on, I am old and I still use the old fashioned one. I have for years always used two gauages because I have never in my 62 years found 2 different ones that read the same pressure. My obsesssive compulsive brain makes me double check.
I bought a pressure gauge a few years ago, I think Victor is the manufacture. It has an easy to read dial, a flexible hose, and it holds the reading until you press the brass release button.
pick up 1 for auto zone last week for only $10 it's digital and it reads 1 pound higher than the tire sensors in the car ..it's always a good idea to have one when adding air in the tires .before i got mine i put air in and they were way too high .so thats what made me buy mine .
currently have 3 sets of wheel, only 1 set has sensors on them. Obviously for the wheels that don't have sensors, I use a regular gauge, but for the set that does, I use the DIC to keep track of it day to day and make sure it's not leaking air, but when it's time to actually put air in the tires, I use a regular gauge.
