I know a little about C3 and 4's but not much about 5's. Looking at a 2000, pewter auto with 90000 miles priced at 18000 in very good shape. Your thoughts and any gotchas like optisparks or bearings?
That sounds about right for average, But you can do much better. 90K miles is high for a 2000, and 18k is high for any c5 with that many miles. Look around, you can find a low milage 99-2000 for only a few more dollors.
First I have to challenge you on the title on your post: "2000 Auto" You meant 2000 Vette correct? Because the vette "a'int" just any "auto."
Okay glad I got that out of the way. Take a look at the Sticky on the top of the Forum entitled Weights, Measurements, etc." An excellent primer in terms of what some of the issues are with each model year.
That being said.....I think the price is a bit high for the mileage. If you want to take it to the next step, get an independent inspction of the car. Also, get the VIN and see if someone can run a check for you. Good luck and keep us posted.
I have a 2000 Torch Red Coupe with 63K and it runs/rides/accellerates great. I feel $18,000 is acceptible. You may be able to find a lower mileage model. Depends on how motivated you are and the number of Corvettes for sale in your area. And winter is coming on...may be some sellers who are motivated as well.
I'm not mechanical so I can't help with "gotcha's". Sorry. Good luck.
I know corvettes are not just any "auto"...I have 5 of them. I was referring to the transmission. I will enumerate next time. Thanks for the input. I will bypass and concentrate on one with less mileage.

IMO, you should be able to get a C5 with less miles for just a bit more - might be worth looking around some more. The C5 does not have the Optispark distributor so no worries there. Be sure to look for differential leaks and rocking seats in the C5. Good luck finding a car.
