Default Corvette partitions

Who has experence with putting in a partition in a C5 coupe? I have been told it cuts down road noise from rear wheels, help the AC and the Stereo perform. Is it worth the time or investment?

Thanks

Takes -no- time to install, and I'd say it's worth the $$$, only because if you can't afford one, it would be very easy to make.

Haven't done it in mine. Will be interesting to see how many have and what they think.

I drive a vert, made my own. Did it at the same time I soundproofed and dumped the runflats. For that reason I can't really say how much it reduced noise.
I made mine with a lower "return" that sits about five inches above the the trunk floor and comes forward to the seats. This completely isolates the top from the trunk, yet allows storage under the folded top (also allows access to the center storage compartment). Now I can stuff my trunk with duffel bags etc. and not worry about interference with the top down.
If any vert owners want dimensions, let me know. Easy build.

If you want it to reduce road noise, you're wasting your money. If you want it as a partition, then OK. I bought an expensive one and would not do it again.
For noise, add insulation. JM2C.

The partition in a c5 coupe will not help with the road noise. Unlike the Z06 or vert it does not go all the way to the top.

Works great as a divider though to keep items from rolling up front the trunk area.

Default partition

I did mine at the same time I did the insulation kit. I can't say how much it helped, but I feel it did reduce the noise level somewhat. Keeps everything separated also. I got the partition and the insulation kit from "Crazy Cowboy" a forum vender. Good prices and a great guy to deal with.

Its hard to say in a Vert because my roof's down most of the time

I think the big advantage is it stps stuff rolling back into the trunk and it tidies up the load are when the roofs down as well as protecting the roof from stuff in the trunk.

Overall I'm pleased with mine. Got it from exoticvettes.com. The only problem is the velcro is not man enough for the job and it slips sometimes.

You can see it in this pic

I got mine from exotic also. It is truly the only money I have spent that I think is a total waste of money. I try not to let the fact that it came with a small tear in it affect my opinion.

Mine used to slip out all the time. Got a vette-tray from southerncarparts...perfect solution.

Picked up partition and vette tray from jim at southerncarparts
and I likey. It does prevent road noise, and separates the
2 compartments. I have a '00 FRC and the partition goes
all the way to the top.

I just sent a PM, I also would like the dimensions on how to build, and what you used to make it? Thanks Jack

I totally agree. I got mine from Exotic Vettes also. It's a piece of 1/4" flat rough cut ABS plastic with a poorly color matched piece of carpet glued onto it. How hard can it be to match black. Even the edges of the carpet are ragged cut. Didn't help much with the sound deading either. No way way it worth $160.00. IMHO.

It was one of the first mods i did. The a/c gets cooler faster, the stereo sounds better, and it looks cool. Plus it keeps the stuff that i put on the shelf behind the seats from flying in the trunk. I got mine from the corvettegarage, it's a quality piece. It took only minutes to install, and looks like the car came that way.
