Default "Low Oil Level"

I have a 04 Z06, i received this message 3 days ago, checked the oil and was a quart and a half low. I bought the car with 11,500 miles and it now has 14,024 miles on it. I changed the oil yesterday since i was not to sure what kind of oil was in it before and didnt what to chance mixing them. I made sure it's filled and i am still getting this message? Any ideas on what the problem may be? Thanks

The only time I've had that message come up on my Z06 -even when it has plenty oil- is when I leave it parked on an incline, or steep driveway.

Make sure you put in the correct oil quantity and then check it on the dipstick. If all this was done correctly you may have a bad oil level sensor

I had it happen. I had to replace the sensor. Not a huge deal.

I took it to a friend who owns his own repair shop and owns alot of Corvette's. He just bought an 07' Silver Z06 to and to his stable. I will check back with him tomorrow to see how much oil he put in it, since he knows Corvette's i would assume he put the correct amount in, so it might very well be the sensor. Thanks for the reply's guys .

The correct amount is 6 1/2 quarts.
Friend of mine had the same message on his 04 ... and yes, whomever changed his oil shorted him a quart.
I change my own, and put in 7 quarts ... no problem ... just rides in the "wings". Car usually ends up with 7 1/2 qts as I "top it up" when I go to the track and just leave it in until I change it.
Tip: You can reset your oil life indicator by bringing it up on the DIC, turning he key to the "on" position, and pumping the accelerator three times ... easier than whatever's in the manual.
