Garage - Phase 3
I ordered the Gladiator series of garage cabinets from Lowe's a few weeks ago. I picked them up a week or so ago and set about assembling and installing them. The wall cabinets were a bit of a challenge since I didn't want to use the Gladiator setup but still wanted to use their dedicated brackets to mount them on the wall. I finally devised a wall cleat setup using wooden slats with spacers so that they would drop onto the cleats, be sideways adjustable but still very secure and hold a lot of weight. My solution worked great and I took my time to ensure they were even and properly mounted.
I ordered two of the tall lockers but had to return one and reorder due to a big ding in the door during shipping.
You'd think with the extra-heavy-duty shippers they box these in they'd be able to survive the worst Lowe's shipping dept. could dish out.Anyway, here are a couple of shots of the finished product.
This is a pic of the four 30"x30"x12" wall-hung cabinets, two 30" ball-bearing slide gear drawer rolling cabinets for tools, and a solid maple top 6 ft. bench. The quality is top notch. The construction and finish are excellent and the door and drawer actions feel great.

Here's the surviving locker. Should receive the replacement for the damaged locker in a week or so.

I'll try and get a shot of the entire setup including the floor and lift to show all the additions together.
I still have a few accessories to add to the garage but this encompasses the major installations I wanted to accomplish this summer. To be honest, I didn't think I could get this stuff done this quickly, considering the hours I put in at work and on other chores but it's been a lot fun so I guess that helped it go faster.
A couple of followups to the lift install.
Here's the rolling oil drain pan option I had ordered for the lift. I just got around to setting it on the lift the other day.

Also, yesterday my boss brought his '64 Chevy Malibu over so we could check the tranny for a leak while it was on the lift. Turned out to be the pan bolts were a bit loose. It has a 383 stroker with a Turbo 400 in it and sounds excellent.

Old and new . . . Makes me want to start a muscle-car build-up project this fall.

Thanks!!!

Silverbullit99, some lifts start at under $2K but the Bend-Pak you see in my garage starts at ~$2.5K. You can see in the link above that I had help with the heavy lifting part from a friend and an engine hoist. Two guys can do this with a hoist.

You are my HERO.
Looks very professional, and functional.
Maybe next time - too late for me this time.

Looks a lot like the packaging my 2-post lift came in. I also used an engine hoist and 2 good friends, but those high-altitude sections were still a bear to get it.
I have a 12' ceiling (ex-airplane hangars make for great shops!
Now I've got to go find the rest of your garage posts! Sad to say, but I'm going to have to wait about 6 years to get my kids through college before I get those kinds of goodies!
Have a good one,
Mike

How expensive are those lifts and did you assemble it yourself ?
