in IL you have to run a front plate . I do not it is on the car and the cover is velcroed on . If they stop me I will say I was at a car show and forgot to remove it . if I get ticketed so be it . so far after 4 1/2 years no stops also never ran a front plate on my grand prix for almost 8 years ................ mostly around chicago area so they are to busy to worry about no front plate
The no front plate law is hands down the most selectively enforced law around here. We actually tried to change this law last year. We had a petition with thousands upon thousands of signatures. People were calling their representatives and the proposal had a LOT of support behind it. Just when it looked like the front plate law would be done away with, the proposal got piggybacked onto an unpopular bill and killed. Damn politics!
I love to hear you cry babies yell, moan, jump up and down and complain every time you get pinched because YOU broke the law and got a ticket because YOU failed to exhibit your front plate. Just what part of "it's the law don't you understand?"
That sucks. I don't have a front plate either and I know it is against the law here. If I get a ticket, I'll pay it and go on.
I agree, no reason to complain because jealous or not they did have the right to issue the ticket. I run without one and I've been pulled over and actually warned about it but if I never get a ticket for it I can't complain because like someone said it's the price you pay for "the look"

I think pulling you over for no front plate is chicken$hit - but it is the law Tino. You knew that you had to display a front plate, and you knew that you were running a risk of getting stopped, or having a LEO notice it when they stopped you for something else.
You got away with it for this long - and now you have to own up. I say install the plate, take a pic of the car with the plate on it and bring it to court. Apologize, but state that you've corrected the issue, and the judge might just bounce the whole matter.
Be thankful that you don't have a C6 - at least the C5 has a provision for a front plate....
Randy,
You are absolutely correct, I knew I was taking a chance and paid the price. The officer did tell me that if I present an invoice in court proving that it was installed the Judge would drop the charge (picture is also a good idea), he also told me that he would be present to support the dismissal if I put it on. It was just the heat of the moment and i was just pissed, no excuse I really have two options, put it on or just pay the charge every once and awhile when I get caught. I think I will risk it one more time and if that one more time happens too soon then I will just put it on for good Didn't mean to offend any LEO's so my appologies if I did
What do you mean you guess you'll pay the ticket? I don't think you have much choice. Again like many have posted it seems trivial but it is the law. If you don't like it start a petition drive to remove the law from the books. I'm guessing you have better things to do.

Hell, suicide in Kansas is redundant, but no front plate is required. I hope nobody points it out to our legislators. It took 200 years to get concealed carry, which was past in the last session.

That's just the thinking the government wants you to have! No, you most certainly do *NOT* have to "just" pay the ticket! You have several other choices actually. Go to court, maybe you'll get the fine knocked down a bit. Or... have an attorney deal with it and most likely clear it completely. I have an attorney deal with traffic fines like that. I usually pay the same amount either way (sometimes less) but would rather give the money to him than the state.
I'm in my vert Friday morning on my way to work and it's about 7am. I am minding my own business top down beautiful sunny day and thinking (sad) this will be the last morning I drive my vette to work, you know back to school and many, many more cars on the road that causes no fun congestion. I am driving along and pass a cruiser with two police officers, they both look at me and no kidding it's one of those jealous type looks. One minute later they are behind me with the cherries going, I pull over and sure enough he starts asking me about my absent front plate. Long story short, $105 ticket Maybe I'm wrong to think this way but you would think they got bigger fish to catch I guess I will pay the ticket but one thing for sure I am not putting my front plate on, it will be the cost to enjoy this one luxury in my personal opinion, end of

I hear ya Bob; but it's when a forum member posts that his wheels got ripped off from his Corvette (which there really was post about this a few months ago) and the police come out and say "we can't be everywhere"... then it kinda pizzes one off when we hear about a front plate stop.
Serious criminals are not openly out in the public & easy to see. They try to hide somewhat. So it'll take a little effort to find them. To just sit there and wait for a violater to drive by is a waste of your tax monies.
Our locales Chief won't allow stops solely for lack of front plate. There needs to be something more serious happening (speeding - wreckless op) or you don't get pulled over. They may still run your back plate to check for W&W's or stolens - but there's no stop if you're clean.
I run a front plate

One of the largest drug arrests that our department ever made (several hundred kilos of cocaine) came as a result of an expired license plate. Sometimes the "little fish" turn into big ones once a traffic stop is made.

yep; and a expired tag should warrant a stop. But that's not the specific I was commenting on.
