If the doors are locked (ie the top is already down), the release won't work. Just a thought...

And a good thought at that. It also won't work if the trunk lid is popped to prevent damage.

I've had mine go out twice. Had to replace the entire latch unit.

Also, if the trunk is open, the chime will sound as well. Since the toneau release button's wiring is exposed, make sure there's no damage to it.

Drove corvette to dealer this morning. Demonstrated that hatch would not release. Amazing, hatch released on every attempt. He said to bring back when there is a problem. I explained the problem was intermittant.

Hi Winston, When you say it doesn't work all the time, can you be more specific. When you press the button do you hear the latches release, or sometimes do you not hear anything? If you alwys hear the latches release them it may be a problem with the latches, if you do not always hear the latches release then it may be the button or a wiring problem.

Not to be a wise ***, but it took a few times for me to "get it" that the latch wouldn't work with the ignition "on" or turned to acc. Hope this helps.

Still working ok. When there was a problem, I did not always hear the latches release.

Counting my blessings thus far.

Ignition and acc off. When there was a problem tried several suggestions, none worked. Went to dealer, no problem existed during my demo of problem. He did smile when I mentioned the word intermittant
