C5 Coupe/Targa question....
Has anyone ever heard of a cloth version of a C5 targa?
I've been going back and forth on vert vs. coupe.
I was talking it over w/my wife and she pointed out the obvious question, "Do they make a cloth targa?" I had no idea but I figured the CF peeps would know if there was such a thing (and if it was worth a durn).
I have never heard of such a thing. Personally, I don't see the advantage of it. The advantage of the coupe is that when the top is on, it is like a regular coupe. When the top is off, it is *almost* the same effect as a convertible.
I have a convertible C4 and a C5 coupe. If you really want the full top down experience, go for the convertible. I like taking the top off my coupe, but it isn't quite the same open air experience as the convertible.
The other thing to note is that there is no such thing as translucent vert tops, meaning you have either black or all sun, but no in between. Personally, I love the glass top because it not only allows some light in to brighten the interior, but it also is super easy to throw in the back for topless driving. I like listening to the stereo and have found that playing it at reasonable sound levels is better for my ears. As soon as the top comes off, the volume is cranked-up to almost ear-damaging levels.
I've always had verts and now am shopping for my first coupe. I love verts but like the lines of the coupe better and the easy access to the rear for carrying stuff.

The thought behind the cloth targa was the thought of the solid targa reducing the usable storage space when it is removed. We figured a cloth one could be stored in a way to keep as much space as possible for storage when traveling.
Oh well, seems it was just a pipe dream and I will have to actually make a judgement call one way or the other. All decisions should be so hard.

Thanks for the help guys.
If you want storge space, you better go with the Coupe.
Get a coupe, both tops, and a cover for the top (while stored in the back). Since you can store some luggage under the top and also on top, you lose very little space with the top off. Having said that, however, I find distance travel much more relaxing with the top on because of buffeting and road noise. Use the solid top in the summer(cooler) and the glass top in the winter (brighter). You can't lose with any of the three body designs, but the coupe has more storage space - more than a Sedan DeVille.
I have one of these and I love it. Once it's in place it looks factory, so nobody messes with your car. I've used it at work & at the mall.
Plus the other night I had the top out and went over to a buddies house. I stayed later then I planned and when I came out there was a HEAVY layer of dew on the car and on the temp top. If I hadn't thrown it on, my interior would have been soaked.
It folds up like a windshield shade an fits behind the seat. I highly recommend one to any one who like running topless.
