[Z06] New Tires
pricey though
can't go wrong with OEM either
with both statements.Although my PS2's weren't any more expensive than F1's for the "total package".
Search for "tire". Tons of info. Maybe in FAQ's too ?
Very happy with my PS2's. Details in previous threads.

P.S. ( no pun intended )
You will find a lot of people happy with much cheaper Firestone Wide Ovals, or Kumho's.
You could be very happy with these for less $'s. I'd go with the Kumho's if $'s count.
I have a "hard-on" against Firestone and their now parent company Bridgestone.
But, it's based on their truck tires that were OEM on my GMC Z71 that "blew apart at 50 mph".
And the lack of corporate responsibility. OK, it happened for their SUV tires also. And it's killed
a bunch of stupid folks who were bad drivers, and didn't wear their seat belts.
So, I have no experience with the Corvette "Wide Oval" tires.
But the fact they totally disavow responsibility for the "sh_t they produced" is "not really a plus" with me.

If I didnt run the stock rubber I would most likely go with the Michelins, have had overall good experience in the past with them and they seem to have a pretty stellar reputation across the board

Firestone was very irresponsible with those crappy truck tires...
I wouldn't use their recycled rubber to manufacture condoms!!!
HOWEVER I got stuck out of town and was forced to buy 2 Wideovals for the front of my Z06..... let me tell you, ---they are 10x better than the stock F1's. Cheaper, Smoother & Quieter with almost double the treadlife, and grip is 10x better in the rain!! At 1st I didn't want them, but had to take them cause that was all the dealer could get me. I love them!!!!

As far as Firestones are concerned, I had their runflats on a previous C5 and they were much better than the Goodyear runflats. The whole SUV fiasco was actually Ford's fault putting the blame on Firestone. They were recommending Explorers run tire pressures too low to compensate for their crappy ride, which was causing them to overheat and explode. Car and Driver did tests simulating this occurence and found that the reason the vehicles were having accidents was driver error. They kept exploding tires on Explorers and the vehicles would stop straight every time. I had the opportunity to personally witness this phenomenom. I was driving on the highway a few years ago when suddenly I heard an explosion. I looked ahead and saw a tire on an Explorer exploding fortunately far enough ahead of me that my car didn't get hit by pieces of tire. I slowed down expecting to see this SUV flipping over in front of me. Instead the vehicle just slowed down and the driver just pulled off to the shoulder, with just the bead of the tire still surrouding the rim.

But, I will say, on dry pavement there is no comparison - the Nitto's hook and handle waaay better than the GY's (they even ride better and are a little quieter). The Nitto's cost less initially than the GY's but their treadlife has a lower tread rating so I figure over time they will end up costing about the same.
I will never go back to the GY's, I'm hooked on the Nitto's.
And, I am not a BIG FAN of Ford, and how they have dealt with safety issues over the years.
I'm not talking "Pintos", but I'll keep my inside knowledge to myself.
BUT, in my truck tire failure, a blowout with foot-long rips and tears through the radial sidewall and around the circumference seems a bit extreme. With 40 psi in the rear tire, no load in the pickup, and 50 mph on a straight and level asphalt road. Luckily, my wife is a pretty good driver, and didn't hit the brakes. She just kept it straight until slowed enough to pull onto the gravel shoulder. I've still got the tire. And pictures.
I used those tires to tow my travel trailer all over the western mountains.
I know, Wide Ovals are a totally different deal.
But, I wouldn't buy a geniune Rolex from a guy who sold me a copy last year.
Integrity counts with me.
when you make such an inquiry, you need to advise as to how you primarily use the car - daily driver (including rain), autox, HPDEs, annual mileage, etc. Some tires are more biased to particular uses than others.

But I agree with you on the grip. I use the R2 for track and they grip great! The SC is a damned good street tire for track use also.
Just an FYI for you. Once those R2s get to half tread watch it in the rain. If you think SCs are fun in the rain these will make it just as entertaining. They are not a rain tire.
I have had them for about 4,000 miles and no noticeable wear so far.

It is a daily driver and it does see the rain, although not very often. I have only had it for a little over a year but have put around 10,000 miles on it.
