It is a daily driver and it does see the rain, although not very often. I have only had it for a little over a year but have put around 10,000 miles on it.
Then I'd consider the GY GS-D3s, Kumho MX, Toyo T1-R, Firestone Wide Oval, to name a few.... Good luck with your decision.
I keep hearing that the Wide Oval is narrower than most tires for the Z 06 yet I check the specs published on Tire Rack and it seems they are within .1" of the F1 GY. They also seem to have a very high ranking from drivers as well. Am I missing something?
I went through three sets of the OEM Goodyears before I changed to the Nitto Extreme R II's. I don't run my car in the rain (if I can avoid it) but the few times I've been on wet streets with the OEM GYs they would get loose real easy. I haven't had my Nitto's on wet pavement so I can't compare the two tires under wet conditions.
But, I will say, on dry pavement there is no comparison - the Nitto's hook and handle waaay better than the GY's (they even ride better and are a little quieter). The Nitto's cost less initially than the GY's but their treadlife has a lower tread rating so I figure over time they will end up costing about the same.
I will never go back to the GY's, I'm hooked on the Nitto's.
Since the RIIs are slightly larger than OEM SCs, does the speedometer and odometer need to be recalibrated ? Do the RIIs pick up more road debris as a daily driver and cause more paint chips or abrasions ? I understand that the RIIs are superior to the SCs on a road course. Does anyone know if they outperform a well heated up SC on the dragstrip.

I did not recalibrate, the difference is about 1% so at 100mph you're actually doing 101mph. That's within the error rating of the Speedo to begin with.
They do kick up a little more road debris but so far no chips or abrasions. I haven't taken my car to the strip yet, but I can tell you from a standing start on the street the Nitto's hook much better than the SCs. I use to be able to break the SCs loose almost at will. The Nitto's love powershifts, in fact if you don't power shift the Nitto's have a tendency to cause your engine to bog.

Just curious, anyone check speed ratings on the wide ovals, not that a daily driver is going to max out daily or anything like that. Seemed to remember they are not quite up to par with the Z06 capabilities.

They are "W" rated (tested to 168 mph). Are you planning on going faster?

Only in your dreams. I would only do something like that on the track and it would be with the reputation of a much better tire manufacturer. Just putting it out there incase it could be an issue.

They are just a bit narrower in tread width. When you look at both the WO and SC mounted on rims there is more of an optical illusion that the WO appear a lot narrower than they really are. The SC is a very square looking tire. Flat sidewall almost. The WO is very rounded and has the rim protector which makes it appear to bulge out more. I have the WO for the street and have no complaints. Hard to beat that price. I use the R2 or used SC on track. I had the WO on track in the rain and they weren't bad. Had them on a dry track when they were new and they howled like crazy. They are not as stiff a sidewall as the SC or as sticky on a dry track. But for commuting purposes I'll take the WO and the money savings any day.
