I have an 03 with the in dash cassette and the 12 disk changer in the back. I just bought an in dash cd player part #9390211 from an 04 C5. Does anyone know for sure if this unit will still operate the changer? Will it connect as is? I'd appreciate anyone with experience or knowledge who could let me know before I start taking the car apart to change it out. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes it should work just fine. YOu will need to plug in the CD changer cable into the back of the new unit. Everything should hook up just like the old one came out.
GM is too cheap/smart to require different parts for the same cd changer.
Thanks, anybody else swapped out the cassette for an in dash cd and still used the changer?
My '04 came with CD head unit and 12 in the trunk. I like listening to Car Talk but I only had them on cassette. A forum member gave me a cassette head unit he had sitting on the shelf. Installation took 20 minutes tops, and everything works perfectly. I've since switched to an IPOD Nano so I threw the CD unit back in.
One difference - the next disk button on the CD unit was #5, it was something else on the cassette unit (I think it's actually labelled on the cassette head unit).
Any way, no frets, they interchange perfectly. Piece of cake.
Yes... my '99 came with the in-dash cassette head unit and 12-disc CD changer in the back. Swapped out the cassette unit with a CD head unit I picked up on Ebay. It was a direct switch-out... everything hooked up exactly the same. Works great.
