Hello,
I just bought a 2001 Vette and have a question relating to the rear view mirror. There are 3 buttons on it, the two map lights on the left and right and a button in the middle. What does the button in the middle do, when I push it, I don't see anything happening? Sometimes a green light appears where the right map light button is but I am not sure what that means either.
I just checked my owners manual and it does not mention the button in the middle either.
I just looked at the options for my car and I do have that option but I don't know what it is or what it does. Is it only in effect when I hit the button or all the time?
With the green light on the system is active but you won't notice anything until bright light hits the photoeye sensor on the mirror. Then you will notice the reflection growing darker. I have a vert and an extreme situation is when I'm heading east at sundown and the sun gets reflected in the mirror - then there is a fast and big difference in the reflectivity.

It's in effect when the button is pressed and the light is on. Next time you're driving around at night with headlights behind you, press it to turn it off(if it's on) and watch the effects. With it on, it greatly reduces the glare of the headlights behind you. It works on the rear-view and the driver's side mirror.

Auto dimmer, it's a great option to have when a redneck hillbilly driving a lifted 1984 Dodge Powerwagon is tailgating you with his hi-beams and deer hunting lights on giving you nothing but daylight in your rearview.
