Just some more input,
I got my 02 Z06 over year and a half ago and my decision on purchasing it was based on riding with one of our executives @ work. He is 6,3 - 6,4 (depending on who asks him) and fit snugly but with room. I tried out his seat to see if I could fit as I'm 6, 1/2 ft & 310lb wide sholders and figured I'd never fit. Turns out with the seat all the way back, and leaned back I can fit comfortable and get in and out w/o any issues (well other then the fact it's on the ground). I've had a lot of cars thru out the years and I must say not only is this the most reliable (minus minor issues) but also the most fun to drive. I wonder how I ever made it w/o a Z. Anyway's I would recommend taking a test drive of one of your friends Vettes. See how you fit and feel, Then pull the trigger if you still like it (I'm sure you will). Laterz and Good luck !

Default Go for a Z16

Wisher,

I have to agree with “WayneinVA” – look for a Blue Z16. Since they have stripes they go faster than a red or yellow Z. It does have a good patriotic look and it can really turn heads since they were a limited production run. I got mine on eBay two years ago and I still see them on there occasionally.

Thanks for your service in the desert. I’m a retired Air Force guy of 22 years AD and I’m still working for them 8 years later. I never had to deal with the desert since my war was a cold one but I have a son at West Point who has sand in his future.

Be safe over there.

What color is a F16 ?. Silver is the color of a machine and the Z06 is an awesome machine. You are going to LOVE IT!!!.
"FOR ME" mods were a sign of heavy use (raced), new tires on a 10k mile car also a red flag, general condition is an indication of owners pride of ownership and level of care, One guy had a nice low mile car and never changed the oil in 2 years because it only had 3k miles on it- I passed on it. Talk to the owner for a while. I won't buy a car from an idiot. Check with the dealership and run a vin # to see if it had any continuing problems and what problems if any- most will be happy to do this for you . Look for color mis-matches in body panels on a sunny day- I do not buy cars that were in an accident. Listen to the engine when it is dead cold and how it shifts when dead cold.
Also, ask some forum members here who have been around the Corvette block to go with you once you are almost certain to buy a car. Most like me would be more than happy to help a future Vette owner and also try to repay you for your service to us and our country.
If you are in Arizona let me know. Good luck !!!
Oh and forget about wearing a helmet in the Z

I hear a lot of people say the red ones are everywhere. I have been looking at Vette colors as I drive around for a long time and I would say that only a small proportion are red. Maybe the red sticks in people's minds because the color is so intense, at least if it is Torch Red.

Guys - I enjoyed all of the comments about various services. I am also an Air Force vet. I used to be 6' tall, but at my advanced age (a previous thread referred to old farts over 60) I am shrinking. I am down to 5' 6" now and very seldom bump my head.

I love my 04 ZO6. Thanks for your service ZO6wisher. You will also love your car when you get it.

The forum is a great help.
