Flame suit on...I never pre-fill the oil filter and have yet to have a car fail on me.
While I'm coming clean I also use Fram filters on my other cars (Mitsu Spyder GT, Toyota Sequoia and '82 Corvette) and have not had any problems with them either. Of course the oil/filter is changed out pretty routine every 3 Months/3K miles.
I went with the K & N filter on the Z because for the first time in my life I'm letting a computer tell me when to change the oil/filter rather than the trusty 3 Months/3K miles.
Glad your home-made ramps worked out for you. I built my own as well and had no problems getting under the car. I did lift the rear with a floor jack to level out the car (actually put her in somewhat of a nose down position) but drained out less than half of a quart more; not so sure that’s necessary now.
I took the idea from you about the ramps. I read one of the threads on how you set up the ramps and oil change and followed exacly how you did it. Thnx for the help found that thread very useful. Hopefully this thread helps someone that was in the same need as I was also. Thnx a lot for all the feedback.

Just be careful, I would chuck the rear wheels as well... I do not use ramps, my cousin was killed when his 71' Nova rolled back and crushed him... this was back in 91' he was 17 years old a couple weeks from graduation and a few days away from being 18....
I would make sure you chuck the rear wheels and maybe even but some small jackstands under there...
