Geeze...there are sooo many options out there...it's hard to even find five guys in the same thread that have the same model intake. I have a Breathless performance Vortex Ram Air Induction kit. Basically a K & N cone filter with a clear box around it that forces the air coming into the front of the vehicle to be forced into the filter vs. elsewhere in the engine compartment. Most all good systems have this feature. Click on the forum sponsers links on the left of the C5 General page and you'll find several to choose from. If you want to do some research first just use the search funtion at the top of this page > choose the "Advanced Search" feature and key in some keywords and select "C5 Corvettes 1997-2004" then hit search. You'll probably find hundreds of discussions on the subject and on any subject for that matter. A pretty good system is going to run you around $300 + or - $50 to $100. but they are all easy to install yourself.
The air intake is usually in the top 5 of the first mods we all do and considering some guys spend $10,000 to $50,000 modding their vettes that ranks this mod pretty high up there.
Great looking Vette and I happen to like the BSM and even if it was newer I would still keep it on, especially if you end up parking around a moron that opens the door on your Vette, BSM is an easy fix, but to each there own and this is why it is exciting owing a Vette
When you buy your new air filter, they work best when hooked up to a blower
