I think it is a speaker or microphone of some sort, but I'm not sure what it's for. My car is a 2000 Vert. This part is located in the driver's side corner by the sun visor, attached to the A-pillar.
I have looked at a few other C5 Verts, but none has this piece. Your input is appreciated!
I just bought the car in June and do not believe it has a built-in handsfree phone kit or a radar detector.
It would be great if the car did have some sort of bluetooth tech built-in, but I cannot find any other components in the car that may belong to this part.
On the back of this piece it says "To Speaker" with an arrow pointing down (towards the bottom of piece as shown in the pic, away from the wire).
Thanks for the input so far. Please keep the advice coming.
If it is a hands-free telephone mic, shouldn't there be some other component somewhere else in the car? If so, where would I find it? I have looked everywhere (not that there are too many places to hide things) and cannot find anything that appears out of the ordinary.
It is a Mic for a hands free set up. When the "kit" is removed a lot of times the mic is left or simply missed. If you pulled the carpet off the right side of the tunnel you may find 3 mounting holes for the phone bracket. The bracket and the wire for power would have been removed. The power supply is usually tapped into the accessory plug in the glove box.

Thanks for the help!
One more question though. Is this mic still usable, or should I just remove it?

Only usable if you have the rest of the handsfree package.
I have that mic on my Motorola handsfree in my truck. Comes with a phone cradle, it's own underdash speaker. and a "box" (charger/amplifier). Great set-up if you work out of your vehicle.
I used to work in car audio and still do some work in that field. I can assure you it IS a mic for a "handsfree car kit" for a cellphone or some other mobile telcom device.
You can either remove it and clip the wire, or try to remove the whole thing harness and all.
You will MORE then likely find the remains of the wiring still in the vehicle, MINUS the module or brain. When most people sell off their cars they bring them back. all we remove is the extrenal antenna, speaker, mic, brain, and CLIP OFF the excess wiring enough to hide it in the vehicle!!
Many times, the mic is left behind. - Why do they do it.. well when they bring in another car, they are sold an "install kit" that contains the mic, antenna(s), etc.
