Default Summit Point Raceway

Any of you guys done the track days at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia? I am very interested in taking my 99 FRC to one of the "FATT" events and running it. I emailed them for info but never heard. Can anyone direct me on how to go about getting signed up? Is it a long waiting list to get in?

Thanks for the help.

When's the next time you guys meet? The Summit Point schedule says there is a wait list. Is there a way to go up, pay that day and get class and track time?

FATT normal sells out almost a year in advance. Every HPDE or track event sells out months in advance, so the idea of arrive, pay and drive is not an option.

There is an upcomming HPDE ( High Performance Drivers Event ) held by NASA ( National Auto Sports Association ) Oct 14-15. http://www.nasaracing.net/Summit_Oct_06/event.htm

Registation is open now. Sign up for HPDE 1. You will have an incar instructor and class room time. Plus there will be races to watch too.

Does your car run hot with that front spoiler? I had to take mine off. I've been told that the only way to throw a front spoiler on a C5 is to convert it to a front breather.

Not bad. I have removed the rear rubber strip on the hood, actully enlarged the opening from 3 to 5" for better air flow. So cooling and air flow are not a problem. I run a bottom breather anyway. and have opened up the radiator schoud behind the Screens so air flows directly onto my oil and trans cooler radiators.

I have a Ron Davis 4 core radiator to go in this winter, possible engine change too.

Cooling was not the challange, but aerodynamics was which we sorted out. Splitters can not or should not be added without a 1" rear spoiler

I was told by the guys at DRM and LGM not to put a front spoiler and convert to a front breather (something I'm thinking about) without commiting to a wing in the rear. For now I have a small rear spoiler and a vented hood that does a good job of getting air through the engine compartment and out from underneath the car (thus alleviating lift). Are you going to run at Summit Point in October? This will be my first NASA event; how are they? I'm really excited.

Correct. a 4" front splitter needs a 1" rear spoiler AND a SPEED WORLD GT Wing, plus side skirts, extractor hood AND REAR deffuser.

a 2" front splitter needs a 1" rear spoiler. an extracter hood is a huge help. I will get one this winter.

aerodynamics of a car is 30% front splitters, 10% rear spoiler, 20% wing, and 40% undercar diffusers / side skirts. Or something to this degree.

I have found out dont mess with the aero of the corvette. leave the car at stock ( no less the 1/2" lower) get the rake set properly and a racing alignment, then just drive and drive.

No I will not be a Summit Point. I am doing / promoting the NCM HPDE in South Carolina the end of Oct.
