Nissan hasn't made a Skyline since the R-34 was discontinued several years ago. the G-35 "Skyline" that your talking about is just an apperance package and a Stillen Supercharger. the new GT-R is going to be sold in the states under the Nissan name and cost close to $70,000 from everything that i've read on them. thats all the info that's been released on the new ones so far. no power output, engine size, drivetrain, etc. Now, as far as the G-35's are concerned, they're pretty lame and i can't believe that the driver had the ***** to say that to you. glad to see you put him in his place.
Incorrect! The name of the actual car in Japan is Skyline. They're both one in the same. Check Nissan of Japan's website. I've already posted the link. It is not the Skyline in the traditional history of the vehicle. However, the V35 in Japan is the Skyline, and that is the same vehicle imported to the US as the G35. (Btw, I have a buddy in Japan who verified this.)

i guess i stand corrected. like i said, everything i've read said that they haven't made the Skyline since they stopped making the R-34. i'm a little confused as to why the magazines that cover the import scene and do a lot of coverage in Japan have never mentioned that the G-35 is called the Skyline over there?

Well, many purists don't really consider the current Skyline a "real" Skyline. The "real" Skyline is the upcoming GT-R (which I hear rumors of possible problems with passing California emissions). That's a possibility why they don't mention the name too often. It's pretty much common knowledge all over the G35 forums though.

On 14 January 2005, Nismo resurrected the R34 GT-R for one last tour of duty before the introduction of the anticipated next generation GT-R. Labeled as the R34 Z-tune, the Nismo engineers made the car the most powerful road-going GT-R ever created. Using rebuilt R34s with much technology borrowed from the GT500 Racing GT-Rs and endurance racing GT-Rs, the Z-tune has a 2.8 L twin turbo instead of the stock 2.6 L engine, racing pistons, connecting rods and camshafts, and an upgraded ECU, giving the Z-tune 500 hp (370 kW) and 540 N·m (400 lb·ft) of torque. The car became affectionately known as the "Mother of all GT-Rs" and it carries a price tag of about US$ 170,000. Nismo has stated that this car will be a limited edition, and only 20 will ever be made and sold.

maybe. but i'm sure you know that you can't believe everything you read. i'm not saying your wrong though, i'm just stating what i know that i've read in the magazines. i love to read about all types of cars and with everything i've read, i've just never heard that.
There is a local infiniti dealer here doing "skyline conversion". What they do is put a body kit on the G35, front spoiler, rear spoiler, side skirts, change wheels and brakes, put a silly actual whale lookin tail spoiler on it and supercharger then with I believe it is a stillen supercharger and when it's all done charge like $120k for it, oh an i forgot they change all G35 badges to skyline. I think they've sold 2 of them so far. And I have seen a lot of G35 owners around here simply rebadge their G35s, like those GTOs that rebadge their cars with the Holden emblems.
Ooooo that makes sense. So basically, its like me putting a Z51 lingenfelter badge on my car! HAHAHAHA

I have seen one of those around where I live. I'm sure they put the letters on just as some retarded mustang owner put GT on their 6 cylinder. Like you said, jealousy is definitely a disease!!!
I dont understand why people badge their cars. When someone knows that it is a fake that has to be realllly embarassing!

The thing about this situation though is that it's not fake. The Skyline and the G35 are the same car - just named differently for different markets, US and Japan.
