Until you learn how to maneuver the caps lock button, you are on your own, kid.

We can try - the first thing is that when you capitalize everything, it means you are yelling, so try to only capitalize the first letter in each sentence, that kind of stuff.

Next, you can't really cut and paste stuff into the forum, what you really have to do is to move a copy of pictures to a server, then use the url of that picture to tell the forum software that you want it to find the picture at that url. There is a help forum that has instructions and tips for this kind of stuff - it is here

I hope this helps you get going, but if you have more questions, let us know...

Finally for what all these acronyms mean, read this post

First, for reasons mentioned above, you need to turn off your Caps Lock.

Next, the Help Forum is the place you need to go for all your general Forum usage and "how-to" questions. You should find a number of threads there on how to post pics and information on updating your avatar with a photo. Should you need further assistance after reviewing the threads/info there, post in the Help Forum and someone should be along to help you.

Good luck.

Okay you've been sufficently racked over the coals for using caps... This is a tough crowd.... lol

For the pic under your name it's called a avatar. Look at the red menu's above and open "quick links". You'll see avatar's open it up and either choose one of the pre-selected ones, or hit "browse" and insert one from "my pictures" in your computer. It can be no larger than 150 x 150 pixels so you may have to first right click the pic you want to use then hit "edit" then "attributes"... keep playing with the pic until it's small enough then "save" it.

Inserting pics into text is a whole nutter animal. Others have commented on it also there is help here in tutorials. It isn't easy for a non-putter kinda guy. Also if you sign up &pay you can by-pass having to open an account with photo bucket, etc. and post directly from your computer.

Maybe we should go from easy to hard and see how you do with your avatar first.

Geeez! I hope I never fall into a lake full of hungry alligators around you guys and YELL FOR HELP!!!! I can just imagine that one of you would stand on the shore and say - "No help until you ask nice and stop yelling."

Cut the newbie a little break, okay? Think back when you first started here and all this stuff like avatars and all of the abbreviations, posting pics, etc. was all a big mystery.

andrehalito - PM is Private message, you can send another forum member a message privately through the Corvette Forum. Click on the screen name, and a pop up will appear with several things in it - including the option to send that individual a private message. ptdrummer54 also gave you a link to another thread that has a list of all the acronyms.

Avatars - which is the picture or symbol that appears under most people's screen names can be chosen from a "stock" group of avatars that the forum provides or you may upload a bitmap or jpeg from a hosted web site like Photobucket, but not from your p.c. It cannot be an animated .gif like mine unless you are a "gold" member or a Regional Coordinator.

Re-read the posts that the guys above me provided - there are some links to places like the Help Forum that will get you assistance on how to post pics here and how to open an account with Photobucket. There is also a testing forum where you can practice your newly discovered skills, until your ready for the "big leagues".

Sorry for the cranky replies from the mob here - must be past their bed time or feeding time.....

Welcome to the Forum - and one key to remember....the SEARCH function is your friend, get aquainted with it!

THANKS A BUNCH, I mean, Thanks a bunch.
I guess as i get older my eyes are not as good as they use to be so i capitalize to see more clearly. It never ocurred to me that it might have affected the posts verbal tone. I apoligize to all . I will also pre-emptivly apoligize for my spelling (my wife says spell check was invented for me).

I will try the photo stuff later on and thanks to all for the guidence.

Ron, good to see you and thanks for the advice. I like your pictures it seems that you got the photo thing down - looks great-

Umm, the OP wasn't in a lake of hungry alligators fearing for his life, he was asking for trivial information he could easily have looked up for himself.

Is is just me, or is there more *** chewing then question answering any more? It seems people are far less inclined to enter a "helpful" post, then to bite someone's head off, and throw out those insipid "IBTL"s.

Relax guys. Try and have some fun.

I have to agree. I read this post this morning and wanted to chime in then but the day got away from me. Now I have time. I'm relatively new to this forum and have noticed that people are quick to rip somebody a new one. It's like "Oh no!! For shame!! He used all caps so he must be yelling at me. Rather than help you, I'll show you how on-line savvy I am and try to make you feel really stupid for such a horrible crime you've committed". The best are the spelling and grammar *****. It seems like as soon as one guy posts his sarcasm, the rest pounce on the poor soul like pitbulls. Seriously, if your intention is to belittle someone, keep it to yourself or go somewhere else. This is my opinion so go ahead and start ripping on me now if you like.

And if you read the very last line in my post....I suggested what?

Relax - this is supposed to be fun and a place that people can pull a stool up to the cyber bar and relax, have a cyber beverage of choice and exchange information and ideas. If you want to get all formal about it and insist that everyone look everything up for themselves - there won't be much to talk about here other than this Cx didn't wave at me, and how do you like my new (fill in the blank)?

If you don't want to help out a new guy or someone asking for help, just move on to a thread that you find interesting. Peace, my brother!
