I have read on this forum that some members had concerns about "hydrolock" when driving through deep water but that was with the Vararam which draws its cold air down low near the foglight shrouds. In looking closely at the Honker it's a LONG way from the intake to where water would reach. The debris issue is a real one and the reason I've ordered the metal screen that prevents shopping bags and other light debris from being sucked into the area under the radiator.
do you have a link for this screen that you are looking at?
I was JUST at their website. Seems like there's a little Vette tax on those. $100 for a screen? They also have some new frame saver wheels that don't require welding on their site. I may bite the bullet and get both. It just chaps me a little though....

They had their screens for sale not long ago for a much better price. You might inquire if the sale is still active or that they'd consider another sale. I bought one. Installation wasn't easy w/o a lift, but it fits like oem. It's cheaper than overheating and/or damaging a motor. If you're handy, you can buy HOME DEPOT material and make a crude copy using 1/4" galvanized mesh screen. The only real difficult part of that process is mounting. The ELITE ENGINEERING product uses existing mounting points with the oem fasteners.
Thanks Hotwheels. I suspected that the mounting issue was the real reason more people weren't going DIY on these. I will buy from EE and borrow my neighbors lift and do the screen and the frame wheels in one shot.
