Default lifting with a flat

I have a race jack with minimum clearance of 3 1/4" which will lift at the lifting points , even with pucks, when there is air in the tire. But I can see that if the tire was flat I could not use the puck placement lifting points and would have to lift on a cross member. Is this correct? Anyone know what the actual clearance is with a flat tire and will a scissor jack be able to get into the side lifting points? I would like not to use the cross members if possible.

Lifting a C5 at the cross-member is OK. See the thumbnail for the lift-point diagram from the service manual.

cross members are ok. Use a 2x6 board above the jack to not marr the cross member. A lot of people do this (as have I) without issues. Its very hard to get to the front crossmember without driving up on ramps. My little race jack from Harbor frieght can just barely do it.

I would do what I have seen a lot of people do routinely at trackdays to change their tires. Put a jack under the puck that is next to the tire that is NOT flat on the same side of the car as the flat and jack away. Eventually BOTH tires will be off the ground.

C5 frame is very stiff. If the racers get away with this so they can change 2 track tires at a time, so can you...

Z06 Nomad- That is the answer I was looking for for- great idea. I have 2 jacks so once I get the car up enough to use the puck side with the flat I will lift with both jacks. Thanks again for the info.!!!

I regularly jack one side of the car off the ground with one jack. It is a hell of a lot easier and faster than moving the jack. When running with race tires the car is low enough that a regular cheap jack will not fit under the car with the puck in place. I use 3 pieces of 2 x 6 to drive the car on and then jack.
