Default fuel filter part number

I plan on changing the fuel filter on my 98 coupe...Should I just go to autozone or is there a recommended place on the forum to check out?

I also plan on doing the transmission fluid and rear diff. I plan on using Royal purple syncromax, but what diff fluid and how much?
Thanks

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

We have the fuel filter in stock! Your vette uses a combination fuel filter/pressure regulator. Give us a call at 800-234-5284 and we can get one off to you at great wholesale pricing and no sales tax.

Default fuel filter

Paid about $22.00 for a FRAM filter Its an EXACT replacement for the AC Delco and dealer wanted $70 for that. Don't use a WIX or NAPA with the metal end and no plastic coupler on the outlet. See my post in the C5 TECH section as I just did this on my 98 about a week ago.
If you have an automatic its more FUN. Have to loosen the left muffler to get enough room to work unless you are a Munchkin.]
Good luck BIGHANK

I buy many parts from Fichtner's, great prices and service (I bought my fuel filter from them). I have heard that you MUST buy the GM Part if you want to ensure it is the correct part. Later years are more expensive since they incorperate a pressure regulator. Very late years have it in the gas tank.

Default fuel filter

If you put the GM filter and the Fram filter side by side you will see that they are IDENTICAL. Same marks on the plastic etc.
I'm betting the GM part is made by FRAM
Mine is a 98 later years may be different

interesting thread....went into walmart today and looked up my filter, an 01...I think it was a 1037 or something like that, it was a Fram filter, and it was $15.88, and in stock! I don't know what the difference is between that and the OEM filter except the price.....
