Thanks for the suggestion. I have polished both sides of the wheels. I put the drivers side back on, backed the car and repeated the process on the other side.
Great Job!
Since I am relatively new to working on the vette (used to take it to the stealership, but reading about what guys do to their cars here has given me the confidence I need to tackle some jobs myself) can I ask some questions?
My brake calipers are downright UGLY...all faded...does the high temp paint really work? where do you get the kit? do you paint the letters a contrasting color?
And how hard is it to put those mesh screens in? DO they add much to a black vette?
How do you lift the car? WIth a floor jack? Do you have to drive the vette up on ramps to even get the floor jack under the car? Then do you use those jacking pucks with jack stands?
Does anyone lift the car off the garage floor on four jack stands to store it for 6-7 mos in the winter (upstate NY)?
WOW...got carried away with the questions.
THis forum is the BEST...the only better thing was getting handed the keys to my '01 triple black convertible!
Nice...I wish I had my LED tailights already that I plan on getting...not many people around this weekend here either. That'll take a whole ten minutes...but ten minutes I don't have to find something to do.
Completing that 'honey do' list is a bitch isn't it.

The high temp epoxy paint works well. I used it on my C4 and it held up great over time. Mid America sells a kit made by Duplicolor with almost everything you need for about $30. www.madvet.com I recommend buying some of the blue 3M masking tape and using an exacto knife to mask the parts that you do not want to paint. I bough cheap paint brushes at Lowe's for .67 each to avoid washing brushes. After cleaning and painting the calipers, I used a razor blade to scrape the paint of the raised letters. No paint. You could paint them a different color if you like.

Not very difficult to install. I bought the kit from a forum vendor, www.vetteshop.com I used epoxy instead of double stick tape as I have read other forum members had the tape fail after time. It's all cosmetic and does nothing functional. As far as what it does for a black vette is all a personal opinon. The web site above sells an entire kit of screens for a very reasonable price.

There are many different ways to lift the car depending upon what you want to do. If you are really serious, send me a PM and I will send you some detailed pics.

A lot of folks up north store there cars for the winter. We don't get snow here, so I'm not knowledgeable on that subject. Ask and other forum members will gladly answer.
