I just purchased my first Corvette (2001 roadster) and I absolutely love it! I went to the Mid America Fun Fest last weekend and saw quite a few similar cars with colored translucent front license plate covers. Can anyone tell me where I can get one?
I tried Mid America at the Fun Fest, they do not sell them. Ecklers only has clear and sort of a smoke color. I saw cars with red & blue translucent cover at the Fun Fest, but I cant seem to find them anywhere on teh web.
Something similar; the ones that I saw at Fun Fest were actualy translucent and colored to sort of match the body color. I don't particularly like the look of the from plate etc, but here in Illinois it is a requirement.

Not that I'm telling you not to put one on, but I haven't had one on the front for a year now and haven't had a problem.
From your description and comments on the one pic (post #6), it sounds like you saw some custom mods. People have taken that plate cover and painted the inside perimeter to make it blend in better - I suspect that is what you saw at the show.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

I never understood the point of having a clear cover like this one, protection sure, but as far as looks go you might as well not have one. Try to find one that is see thru body colored, someone should get on that idea.

And Welcome from Bolingbrook.
Not that I am condoning this, but I have never had a front plate on my 98' and have never had a problem. I just live down in Springfield. It all depends on the cop and whether he cares or not. My girlfriend didn't have one on her 89' either (it was just sold).
